Why you need Scope?dtb wrote:I 'd like to have a 64bit-scope-driver asap just because of some toys I currently use (such as omnisphere, bfd2, trillian, rmx, kontakt, amplitube ...) and I like 'em - so I simply need to adress more ram. that's my request.
Due to system limitations I've used vst system link, fxteleport in the past... but imo it makes things more complicated and isn't an alternative for me anymore.
if someone doesn't "need" omnisphere & co - that's OK for me. most of the time I use Scope only as my IN/OUT midi/audio-interface (and - what a shame - XTC mode). I rarely use the scope synths ... but that's me ... each to his own ...

Re: its time for scope 64bit and multi-asio
I need it because I want the synthesizers in it as there is not much else that has so much but in my country there isn't even a distributor and the prices online are oh so expensive, probably will be excluded on that basis alone, at least from XITE.
Re: its time for scope 64bit and multi-asio
the funny thing is that Scope is a lot more than synths! in fact, it's an even better real-time audio tool...
Re: its time for scope 64bit and multi-asio
I know but so what, it's designed to be either so on that basis I need to know what it's about.
Of course I will use it's mixers, but so to I will use it in XTC mode so I don't wish to have arguments for/against a way of working I simply need to understand.
Thank you

Re: its time for scope 64bit and multi-asio

first off, without the arguments for or against, there's nothing new learned. second, no one's stopping you from doing anything. this is just a message board. you can't be forced to do or not do things with it very easily...do what you like!
the ONLY reason i speak against XTC mode is that it cuts out much of Scope's power and abilities for a minor convienience. i'd like to see people get the most out of their investment. that said, it's THEIR investment. i'm not telling anyone what to do, PERSONALLY, i don't find xtc mode to be important, although i was very high on it at first. obviously, whatever works best IS best, so figure out how you like to work and go ahead and do that. if you buy a Ferrarri to pick up groceries at a market that's only a block away, i'll probably ridicule you. that doesn't mean that you can't do it. it's your Ferrarri...
Re: its time for scope 64bit and multi-asio
Bought my pulsar cards years ago (2003 or so) and imo there was no alternative for me in those days ...
I still use these cards as my basic in/out-device for audio/midi - that's why I am interessted in a 64-bit driver. To use it with my other ram-hungry toys in a 64-bit environment.
Some things changed i.e. today I use voxengo pristine space instead of master verb, omnisphere instead of a pulsar synth, kontakt and not sts .... - what's wrong with that? it doesn't necessarily mean I will NEVER use a pulsar synth, effect ... just open to anything.

Well if you *must* have Scope using 64bit drivers, then the answer is to wait for them to be available. Complaining on a user forum might get their notice at a few random points throughout the year but I wouldn't count on them reading every thread here. Email them!
In the meantime I've had my Scope cards in a secondary system for several years now, and currently run 2 8 core Xeon machines attached to my Scope cards via adat, analog i/o (through a mixer), midi and of course ethernet.

Everytime when I've come here I've always felt like people are trying to sway you one way or the other, then I read that ASB is dead and next is this forum.garyb wrote:this is just a message board. you can't be forced to do or not do things with it very easily...do what you like!
Well, you know I've already got hardware that I'm happy with, funny that!
Don't bother speaking "against" anything, since we know you just want to sell more boxes!garyb wrote:the ONLY reason i speak against XTC mode is that it cuts out much of Scope's power and abilities for a minor convienience. i'd like to see people get the most out of their investment. that said, it's THEIR investment. i'm not telling anyone what to do, PERSONALLY, i don't find xtc mode to be important, although i was very high on it at first. obviously, whatever works best IS best, so figure out how you like to work and go ahead and do that. if you buy a Ferrarri to pick up groceries at a market that's only a block away, i'll probably ridicule you. that doesn't mean that you can't do it. it's your Ferrarri...

Sounds like you got it sorted!
Can you use VST system link as well, or not using steinberg.
Re: its time for scope 64bit and multi-asio
Thx for the advice - I will do so and use my 32-bit environment and Nuendo's freeze-function.valis wrote:Well if you *must* have Scope using 64bit drivers, then the answer is to wait for them to be available.

Re: its time for scope 64bit and multi-asio
32 bit is fine so long as it's 64 bit compatible.
Even some older VST's, although not using the VST 2.4 SDK are written well enough so as to not cause problems with other plugin's but eventually you get to the point where you must make it properly compliant or abandon development altogether.
Things such as VSTGUI need to be overhauled for newer functions but it's part and parcel of the game.

well, i like being cynical myself sometimes, but this is just asinine. you don't know me. i come here ONLY to help people and to amuse myself. i sell Scope ONLY because i use it and LOVE it, and because it's underrepresented. a small company making a niche product would never exist if not for the love of it's userbase. when i first got Scope, it was such a liberating product, that i decided to lend a hand. having people use Scope mode over XTC mode certainly would never make me more money or less money, fool. you were out of line being so disrespectful, but this is the internet, so if you want to troll, i guess you will until you're banned...

I can use Convolution reverbs and Kontakt on XP with 1gb or 2gb or ram and 32 bits. That have been done for everybody for years.dtb wrote:Bought my pulsar cards years ago (2003 or so) and imo there was no alternative for me in those days ...

Re: its time for scope 64bit and multi-asio
Even Spectrasonics/Omnisphere won't be releasing 64-bit compatibility until next month (I saw it at NAMM), and there are some reports that people are having problems with Kontakt in 64-bit mode.dtb wrote:I 'd like to have a 64bit-scope-driver asap just because of some toys I currently use (such as omnisphere, bfd2, trillian, rmx, kontakt, amplitube ...) and I like 'em - so I simply need to adress more ram. that's my request.

These things take time. 64-bit will come 'soon'.

I'll skip 64 bit for a year or two...other folk can report bugs, get frustrated, load patches, fixes etc. etc...and it will be nice and ready for moi then.
I'll stick with XP for now

It wouldn't be the first time anyone has called anyone a "troll". In fact I hear it all the time but it never stopped me from expressing my view.garyb wrote:well, i like being cynical myself sometimes, but this is just asinine. you don't know me. i come here ONLY to help people and to amuse myself. i sell Scope ONLY because i use it and LOVE it, and because it's underrepresented. a small company making a niche product would never exist if not for the love of it's userbase. when i first got Scope, it was such a liberating product, that i decided to lend a hand. having people use Scope mode over XTC mode certainly would never make me more money or less money, fool. you were out of line being so disrespectful, but this is the internet, so if you want to troll, i guess you will until you're banned...mailheist wrote:Don't bother speaking "against" anything, since we know you just want to sell more boxes!
Obviously you are here to sell gear, that is fine but you tend to be subversive and subliminal in your approach as to how you "help" people, through dissuasion and promotion of a certain method of operation over another when people are only here looking for information.
As for the company who makes what you sell, well it speaks for itself doesn't it, high prices against poor marketing and almost non-existent support in some countries.
Re: its time for scope 64bit and multi-asio
ristof, since you're new here I think you've had the benefit of the doubt long enough. If you've been around here for a few years (as many of us have) you'd note that garyb doesn't have anything commercial in his signature and the vast majority of his posts say nothing at all about offering to sell anyone anything. The few times I have seem him offer anything that comes with a sticker price it's never come across as a desire to sell, but rather to connect someone with something in an effort to help them with a need. Also it's my impression that while garyb can help with Scope related purchases, this is far from the only product & service that he deals in.
In other words I'd have to say I'm of the opinion that garyb is one of the MOST helpful people on these forums. He's also vocal and not really given to being shy about calling a spade a spade...
You're being antagonistic without just cause here.

High prices (for a Xite?)ristof wrote:As for the company who makes what you sell, well it speaks for itself doesn't it, high prices against poor marketing and almost non-existent support in some countries.

Well, they answer to most of support requests I make and I've seen worst (Microsoft Partner Source for instance).
Re: its time for scope 64bit and multi-asio
You know I've been watching this forum for a long time and anytime anyone hints at using the gear solely in XTC mode they are immediately informed as to the contrary.
This is an open forum, people should not have to be brow beaten into a particular way of thinking, that one way is "better" than another.
The evidence is clear that garyb whoever he is has vested interest regardless of how much he helps people which I'm sure he does just like the dude on studionu
