Windows 7 x64 compatibility?

Post by kyunghwee »

Just installed Windows 7 x64 RC on my system to see how well it'll perform. Well, I can't seem to go too far since my driver for Scope cards only seem to be either 32-bit only or just because Windows 7 does not like it.
Has any one tried installing Windows 7 x64 successfully with Scope system?
For that matter, does Scope have/need a 64-bit driver? :-?
Feel free to chime in.

Scope does not have a 64 bit driver for their cards, yet...Ralf @ S|C said, that now that 5.0 and XITE-1 are out, they will be working on a 64 bit driver for existing cards..time frame??

your guess is as good as mine...

i use windows 7 64bit. i have 8gigs ram. very nice os.
many music applications work just fine.
i believe that scope 5 will work ok with 7. there might be a need to run in vista compatibiliy mode, but that is not for sure.
there should have been a driver out for 4.5 scope,...................BUT...

Reading from other users experience, Windows 7 seems a lot more promising than Vista (not sure if that really means much but well, considering it could've gone worse, I guess it's a start). Now 64-bit driver from SC would be nice.
But until then, back to XP for me.

Win 7 64-bit drivers are a must. Windows 7 is going to be a success for MS. I downloaded the release candidate last week and was so impressed that it's now my main OS. All I'm missing right now are Scope 64-bit drivers so if want to make music I'll have to boot into XP again.

Vista 64bit drivers work fine in Win7.

Oh, do we have 64-bit Vista driver for Scope? :o Sonic Core's website doesn't seem to indicate there's a new driver for 64-bit OS. Or are you talking about just 64-bit drivers in general?

In general. SC has a small staff so it will presumably take them some time still to get their 64-bit drivers up to snuff for public consumption (I have no 'insider' info btw).

When i installed it to test at work there was no creative driver, but you can just lie to it by running the installer in "vista compatibility mode" with vista drivers and it worked fine.

Well, I got my hands on Windows 7 x64 final version last week (a legit one!). Installed it, and as you guys have already found out, it doesn't work with Scope due to there beign no x64 drivers.

Let's hope they come out soon! I've got 6GB RAM now, it would be nice to be able to use it!

I thought I'd ask SonicCore the question, just to see if there's any new, they said
Win 64 is coming next week as beta, OSX next year, when 64 Bit is finished.
So, there you have it :)

NAMM is coming mid-January, so I'm presuming things will fall into place before then.

In other words, they have to, so that I can shake the gents' hands and congratulate them on a job well done. :)
