Hi guys...

finally picking up my system tomoz.
P4b266, p4 1.8 northwood, 512M ddr pc2100, matrox G450 dualhead, 40G seagate 7200, 60G seagate 7200, lan card, Win xp home, 300w and midi case.

I'll be running logic 5 and pulsar 1.

What slot and IRQ is best with the P4B266?

thanks..

I'd add another question:
If I buy P4B266, should I disable those USB ports in bios?
The point is, LAP 5 key is USB-based...
Besides, more and more midi-controllers come out USB-based.
Well?

indeed, just disable everything you don't use (ie. disabling serial and printer ports might free 3 IRQ's;)

Should I be ashamed here ? I've got a P4B266 but I didn't tweak anything in the bios. I didn't do anything about IRQ. Call me supremely confident (or just foolish), but the Gods are still smiling upon me.

As I see it I've done enough: avoided slot 1, got a good Mobo, good PC specs, no crap on the PC, no warez, no Internet, no Office, no Games, and done all the usual XP tweaks. (And running Zip USB with no probs).

Really I think I shouldn't have to do anything more - I'm not searching for extraterrestrial life - I'm just playing music.

So I haven't done anything more. If it breaks, I'll fix it (ie: beg for help at the Z  ).

But in the meantime, it all runs perfectly. Just as it should.

Spirit, that's exactly the way it should go - in fact for me, with one expection (ASUS P4V4X - yes you guessed it VIA chipset), it's always been such a smooth ride. From my trusty reliable Abit BX6 board, to the ASUS CUSL2 and now ASUS P4TE, there has been very little work to get this going... Congrats.

If you get the right stuff, things work and you can just get on with making music!.... thanks to everyone for helping me build a champion system.
