or more importantly have a separate delay and/or reverb for each track without using PC memory and wasting bus bandwidth.

when it comes out and i finally get one, I think ill turn one of my scope boards in to the ultimate active speaker crossover for 5.1 :)
It's hard to express the horsepower of this thing. It requires a remapping of what paradigms you're used to in your brain to get your head around what's happening here.

Leave the RAM for the graphics cards and OS <hehe>.

I have to agree with you Garyb. If I had not already accumulated 10k in native software I would jump on that for sure. It would be great if SC updated the EQ and Compressor in the 2448. I think they are very useful already but it would be great if they could make them stand side by side with a product like Duende. That would gain them some serious attention if advertized well.

I disagree that people will be dumping their cards in droves on ebay to buy an xite-1.

That is Gary's pipe dream! To gauge sales figures, keep an eye on the number of posts in the xite section of planetz.

braincell, for those of us who are road musicians, there isn't any doubt that the xite one will be an improvement over the older cards. and then back home, i'll be using my old cards on a dedicated host to drive lets say, gigasampler or other stuff. you are right though, we probably won't be ditching our old cards

I'm keeping my older cards - some going back 10 years now.

Besides, I believe that Xite has Z-link, so it can be networked/tethered to the older hardware.

Heeeeehawwwwww...

Lots of Mac guys came from lack of Gigastudio being Mac compatible.
They then had Giga slaves, and more recently VI, Kontackt and PLAY slaves for all of those huge Orchestral libraries.
The price cuts Intel will announce next week will allow guys to just do a new build and keep a Scope slave. The Scope slave can also become a slave just for a VI String using Scope cards.
Especially since VI can assign cores on a Quad for even better performance.
Selling your cards won't line your pockets, but keeping them is a testament to their real value IMHO. I haven't seen anyone using a EgoSystems or Aardvark card for years now, where as Scope which were released even earlier than those cards, lives on in infamy.

I guess you mean that it can be connected via Z-link or ADAT to an A16 ultra & not that it can be connected via Z-link directly to an existing Scope system?

Until now z-link has never worked as a card to card connection, only for I/O boxes like Luna breakout or A16. I think that Xite makes no difference.

If your system is setup with the newest card as the main card, then the others just give you extra DSP.
Should be no performance impact - at least it wasn't on my system.

I guess we'll find out - since Xite basically has a similar front-end to the A16, then...well... :D

old cards shouldn't slow down your system, but they will use the pci bus less efficiently than the newer cards. depending on how you use your rig, it may or may not matter. i say may or may not to avoid an argument.

no, i don't think you can go z-link to z-link betwen card and box or multiple boxes, but S/C would have to confim or deny that. you CAN use both z-link and adat i/o at the same time, however and there is talk of being able to link multiple boxes(in the distant future i'm sure) and i/o expansion(probably sooner).

btw-part of what has slowed down the production is S/C listening to the requests of users. the added mic pre was a serious job. Jurgen did considerable research before designing the pres and the HiZ inputs were added by request. the reason that there are 2 adats AND z-link was by request. the headphone jack was by request. Jurgen told me that he and Holger agonized over whether to make changes, but it's as Jurgen said, they have one shot to get this as close to right as possible and then the hardware is done. the software can always be added to, updated and changed, but the hardware gets designed and the vendors of parts gear up and there's no changing. Holger took notes and has a list of requests and things to check into, what a huge job! the good thing is, these guys are very happy to be doing it.

One thing is for certain,
XITE-1 is an entire live FOH/Monitor enviroment.
I tried to explain this to Holger and Jurgen and I have to send them some screenshots of routing window projects w/ hardware attached.
They acted surprised when I explained the wireless headset mic/earpieces and external reverbs. They were more surprised when I told them about the 6 AUX Monitor/FOH mixer from DAS. So the mic pres being of a high quality were much appreciated.

If I were a Guitarist I would be in Hog Heaven with an XITE-1.
We have so many tools to use already from 3rd Party and SDK developers.
XITE-1 w/a laptop, 2 x powered monitors and additional mic pres would be amazing live and of course in a studio enviroment.

The most important thing to me is support, and I can only say when I spoke to the team and mentioned things I would like to see down the road I could tell by the looks on their " Honest " faces that it would be no problem. These guys are 100% on our side, and having this kind of power with their amount of programming knowledge, we are very fortunate.
I could care less about marketing and which old hardware console company signs on to " authorise " their designs. They make hardware, not software, and we have all of the talent right here in house, not to mention the 3rd party and SDK guys.

I think this bite of information is extremely important, and I find it hard to understand that this has not been used to give us small chunks of news-updates whenever one extra feature had been "successfully" added to XITE. It has all the good features of good marketing: proof that they are listening to user-requests, information that makes it easy to understand the delay, added value to an already valuable product, creating a positive buzz about a long avaited product etc.

Anyways - it is all good news, it is good it's out there now. I wish you all good luck with XITE!

Thanks for all the good information you have been relaying to us Gary (and others) it is much appreciated!

ROTFLMAO!

Good marketing? Who was asked? I didn't get the survey! They should of asked us what we want before they even began this monster project. Asking people what they want should include all customers not just a few ass kissing friends. I heard about this with the third party plugins, only their friends are accepted not anyone who wants to. Down with walled gardens!
