PM issues

Post by Immanuel »

I'm having issues most of the time with sending PMs. I get to a white page, when I submit, but the messages are not in my outbox. I get the issue, if I try to send a message directly from a thread, or if I try to reply. I've also gotten it, when I tried to copy the contend from a thread as text and then send my PM. I only succeded when I wrote a short simple message. I hope the description might help with the bugfixing :)

I found that I can send messages if they contain only ascii characters.

Guys,
I haven't seen this before.

What browser are you using?

And can you give me a specific example. Immanuel mentioned copy/pasting thread content to make it fail. Please give me a specific example.

I just tried copy/pasting Immanuel's post here into a PM to immanuel, and it sent off ok. I'm using google chrome 0.2.149.30

I had several issues pm'ing somebody when pressing the button in a thread copied stuff into the message window like quoting does. I think I tried that in the purchase thread where kwild offers some plugins.
nevertheless I was able to send a pm to stardust recently via the same procedure, but afair I deleted everything that was pre-filled in and started the message from scratch...

um, start trying with re-enabling ranking. if it doesn't help, well, it was a try anyway... 8)

Haha, ya think? I just tweaked your profile rank. We'll see if that fixes the PM issues :P

if you sort the memberlist by rank now, I'm on top of the list. well, that's a start. I was afraid you could rank me much worse than you actually did.
ha, now I have to renew my donation for being awarded the Rank-O-Phile grade...
(and sweeten the search for the reason of the PM issue a bit...)

ok, so what did you do, exactly? I tried, and it seems it worked.
here's what I did: I pressed pm, then removed the link referring to the post on top and cut some of bills text, but still quoted some lines and added my text.

since I have a rank now, I wonder why it works better than before... :P

ah, and I use firefox 2.0.0.17 with some addons, including noscript with planetz whitelisted.

I just went to that topic, selected all bill's text, copied it, opened a new PM, and pasted it in.
Failed to send.

Yes, still using kagi for donations. Not perfect, but not terrible.

went fine over here. I did some editing. put some smiley in.
I even test-pm'ed bill from that particular post yesterday. all fine.

what else shall I try?

it's fine for me since you can use paypal now to pay at kagi. worked, too :)

I just updated the board to phpBB 3.0.2 (from 3.0.1)

Tried a PM with Bill's message and it seemed to work this time. Please let me know if you see any difference.
