sporadic error accessing Z

I've had this error comming up for the last few days and am glad to be able to finally get back on to the site

Ugh, another whole weekend lost to this error. Sorry for the downtime.
At the time of failure, there are queries running stuck somehow for hours and hours and hours.
As a workaround, I'm going to write a script to periodically run, check for long-running queries, and kill them.

Bug in phpbb3, but the phpbb team seems in denial about it. We never had any issues with phpbb2.

Hopefully this will be an improvement...

Speaking of Unix, I just had a bug in a WP plugin which I worked on trying to fix for a whole day until I read someone say that he got it fixed by deactivating and activating it 5 times. I tried the same and this solved the problem. Very strange.

Thanks for your efforts in keeping the site going. I experienced the errors this weekend but by Sunday had seen your message instead of the error. I'll just keep trying to login. Problem solved for now.

Ok, the workaround is in place. Once an hour, a script runs and kills any planetz queries that have been running for too long.

Hopefully this will fix it.

Please post here if you see that dreaded "max_connections" error again!
