Just changed my setup from CUSL2-C / P3 to P4T-E / P4a.
Everything is running smooth and fast, but I have (much) lower PCI-performance on the new board ???????
I've already tried all the known tricks and tweaks, but to no avail....
Does the P4T-E really have a lousy PCI bus compared to the CUSL2 ?????
Please tell me it isn't so...

They both use the same ICH2 chip for the PCI bus so it must be something else.

Describe "much lower." I can load 10 masterVerbs in the subtest on the P4TE, without too much tweaking (rather, none in the BIOS at all!)

Well, I'm running on a (old) Scope/DP card.
On CUSL2 I could load 4 or 5 4080's, now I can only load 3. (That translates to only one in a typical session...)

I did switch to G550 DH from a RivaTNT. Could that be it ???

well just as an experiment why dont you put the old video card back in and see if it makes any difference. then you can blame/or eliminate the matrox as the problem.

I can't.
The RivaTNT is a 3.3volt AGP card, and P4T-E can only use the newer 1.5volt cards...

I used an older Matrox G450 for my masterVerb stress test. I haven't installed my TimeWorks plugins since that board is out, but try the masterVerb test and report how many you get so we can compare & find a solution.

What slot? Sharing an IRQ? Did you install the i850 chipset drivers/IDE drivers yet? You need to, especially if you're using good ole 98SE which you seem to be a big fan of... you should get 10 masterVerbs, with the only tweak being assigning an IRQ to the slot you cards are in, in the BIOS.

Tried different slots and IRQ's, and installed the chipset/IDE drivers...
Right now it's in slot4 on IRQ10, not sharing, and IRQ10Priority=1 in registry.
Also tried in XP...
When you get 10 MasterVerbs, are you talking generation one card as the pci-master ? (Just making sure we're on the same page

I got 10 masterverbs in WinME/WinXP Pro, P4TE w/ 512megs RDRAM, matrox G450 32meg AGP, and SCOPE/SP board (scope2). Also the same results with 2xPulsar1+Luna2 setup (all sharing IRQ 5)...

That sounds about right.
It seems I have to accept that P4T-E doesn't have quite the bandwidth that CUSL2 does.
I'll fix it by adding a second (new) Scope card
After all, with a 1.6 northwood CPU@1.76 I'm able to run 34 PlatinumVerbs !!! (In LAP 5.1)

Got 12 Masterverbs running this evening, according the SubTest

Acorp 6A815EPD,
dual P3 1.1GHz
Apacer CL2 512MB @133MHz
Scope SRB + Pulsar2
USB, LAN active.

I think 12/12 is about max reported. Wasn't the Tiger MP so good too? I thought so...
