I do not OC, but w/ this board a few tweaks on Memory and FSB can yeild great results. I love to watch these tweakers though. As they try to destroy CPU's their results proove to me the reliability of the chipset and CPU at stock or slightly higher speeds.
For those lucky bastards w/ an INTEL / ABIT / ASUS or DFI Lan Party w/ the P35.......This is the ultimate CPU and it will last for many, many years to come. The p4's and Tualatin P3's are still running, and these new CPU's are 45nm and running on air. If those flawed designs w/ poor heat dissapation can run that long think about the P35 w/ an E8600.
DDRII RAM is so ridiculously cheap. DDRIII w/ a quad 9650 shows less performance than this combo at matching speeds.
P35 / E8600 is perfectly mated and mature. Until real world optimisations for music apps happens, I can't see a more fast reliable solution than this. Sure the Nehalem quads next year might finally be the ultimate rig, but I already seem to have plenty of power.
If any of us audio guys need anything in terms of performance, it might come from going to 64bit w/ more RAM.
P35 USERS REJOICE !!
Re: P35 USERS REJOICE !!
great ... I do have the lanparty P35 and I am very happy with it, really. Bios is perfect and the board is 100% stable with my scope system. No tweak needed (disabling usb etc ...).. That's my favourite motherboard (I have used intel and asus ones).
Re: P35 USERS REJOICE !!
yes i have used 2 pci slots with a 20 dsp system (i have sold my scope pro so i have just a P2 now as I wanted some aditional cash for Xite
...). No problem at all. If you need more information you are welcome. Just before i forget : i have removed the weird chipset cooler (too big and no overclocking so...). I have a fanless Gigabyte video board (8600 GT) but the 1 slot version (watch out : like it is often the case a "2 slots" fanless graphic board does not fit ....

Re: P35 USERS REJOICE !!
stardust,
I have not even tested it (the cooler) because all the reviews I had read told that this item could be removed without problem (it only curb temparature a little bit but mainly useful for overclocking). The board is rock solid and I bought it because it a beast for overclocking which means.... it is a monster without overclocking ! Perfect for audio ...

Re: P35 USERS REJOICE !!

As an information here is what I have installed :
- 4 Gb ram (corsair but ok with my 2go Super Talent kit too)
- Raptor HD
- Gigabyte 8600 GT fanless (1 slot version, slim) pcie
- Quad Q6700
You cannot go wrong

Re: P35 USERS REJOICE !!
Awesome,............................I am envious as I always wanted to run a DFI, But I Fear Change ( Garth...Wayne's World II ).
I understand that the E8600 is going to cause major price drops this fall, that's why I like these release reviews of new powerful CPU's.
This board w/ the new quads 4th quarter, could possibly be the apex for audio apps.
I am loading literally tons of content on my P35 rig in 32bit XP w/ 4GB's and the option of the 3GB switch depending on which project I load. GS4 doesn't allow it under XP 32 SP2, but all other apps take advantage of the switch and I don't think I will go 64 bit unless XITE-1 has a major advantage with loads in the STS series of samplers. If so, I will drop these apps like a hot poatatoe and convert everything will extreme prejudice.
My Brotha' Bill, I can only see you having to upgrade maybe next year when the new quads are dirt cheap and apps actually support more than 2 cores ( threads ).
I get excited just looking at DFI's and their horizontal SATA connectors high quality capacitors and overall build, then there's the BIOS.......the absolute finest....period.
You Jerk.

Re: P35 USERS REJOICE !!
Mine is the DFI LANPARTY LT P35-T2R (green and yellow connectors) and I have seen several huge overclockings on THIS one that's why I bought it with confidence... And you know why ? I was right ! ....
