..ahem.. how do you know I wasn't?

no, I couldn't find any multilayer template for version 3, so I built myself. It shouldn't have been much a time saver though, because I had to reconstruct the background in the same way from the old buttons. the rest was color re-mapping or copy paste... some transparency tweak... that's all. If you mind I can upload xcf files in the case you need them.
John Cooper wrote:In case you do any more work, please rename icon_topic_newest_.gif to icon_topic_newest.gif (remove trailing underscore).
oops, missed it!
I've tried some other techniques to try to get better results, but I couldn't do better than this. With the v3 template you mentioned, things should be better for dealing with transparency, I'll do some tests if you post it.

John, I'm really glad of doing something for this place. I'll need the missing icon sets/structure for other icons, renaming of old icons should be good for mini icons on top of the page.

Thanks for pointing those out.
next thing: there are icons at the bottom of the board index, attached to "who's online", "birthdays" and "statistics", looking still ugly :)

just noted that "who's online" is clickable. big brother shows me that I'm viewing who's online, zangsta is composing a private message right now, and the bots are reading topics in several different forums...
ah yes, fede seems to reply to my message :)

Good catch. Maybe Fede can fix that one? :) I'll post those PSD's shortly.

ok, new one:

I've replaced new buttons with newer versions which should show better font dithering and better colors. (thanks to your psds)
I've added also other missing icons from the old set and I made a new one for "new private messages" at top left of page (which previously showed the same icon for read and unread pms), I called it "icon_mini_message_new.gif"

I reconstructed file hierarchy seeing addresses of images with the browser, but I cannot be sure that there are now all the icons needed.

cheers,
Fede

Thank to you for this great forum!

Some other things I noted:
messenger (icq, mnsm...) icons aren't displayed/enabled.
I was expecting new icon for new or unread private messages icon_mini_message_new.gif to be shown, since I renamed it the way is named in the old icon set, but probably it has to be enabled or linked somewhere in the code.
Also frames of quoted text or inline attachments looked better with the old style (like normal attachment currently do)

cheers

Maybe they're a bit better (not much) with transparency issues. Many images have edges of light blue so they don't look good shaped over the darker background, to obtain a better result it would be needed to do drastic changes to them, don't know if it is intended that way, so have a look at them.

Thanks Fede.
Yes - the default icons only looked good over light background. I had already spent some time on these, but yours look better - and you fixed the animated redface which I had skipped :) I've installed yours.

Thanks again.
