Server outages today

Post by John Cooper »

Guys,
I'm experimenting with the upgrade to phpBB3.
Please be patient if you see the forums down, or messed up a bit today :)

Cheers,
John

Ok, this is upgraded to 3.0

We are on the generic all white/blue theme. I spent a couple hours trying to tweak it to the usual planetz color scheme, but it was taking too long, and looking too crappy. So here we are :)

This new theme is horrible; looks like the Adern forum. It's too clinical; not warm, fuzzy and inviting like the old one. 8)

I found there to be another athmosphere in the old one. But I do agree. I read faster in this one. :)

I find the user name recognition a little hard into the tread, maybe because the little font and the font color...
It could be better (and funnier) activate the avatar use to place near our name.

Then why don't you go to your User Control Panel and set it up? Checking the UCP may be a good idea anyways, it has some new options :D

John, great to see you found some time for an update :) Thanks for the effort - and the new functionality! Looks like it went pretty smooth after all. I remember you were pretty anxious about updating, since you had modified the original phpBB extensively...
Enjoy the hollidays! :)

at0m - you are way behind. We actually had a period after the upgrade, where this was not default theme. :P

I'd likely switch back and forth a bit. So many good memories with these colours (damn, I sound both old and like a country singer now)

I was more anxious about the *last* update, when I abandoned phpBB 1.4 for the newer 2.0.
That's when I eliminated nearly all my custom code (and there was a lot of it!)

This update to 3.0 was much simpler, since I have nearly no custom code now. It was mostly cosmetic tweaking.
