Well just goes to show you can't please all the people all the time - i like the fact that it has the original interface because it's easy to program. Oh and that obscure button next to Main called Add isn't too hard to find now is it? Do you just like complaining for the sake of it.braincell wrote:The SFP suffers from tiny fake hardware syndrome. As an example, they wanted the Minimax to look like a Moog, so to get to the "extra" features, you have to click on an obscure button. Why not be able to see all the features at once?

Would it be more difficult for you to use if everything was visible at once?
The original hardware has knobs spaced a certain way because of physical imitations. You could probably design a GUI for the Minimax which uses 1/3 of the visual area and still be just as functional plus show all the controls at once. Seriously as long as the knobs are labeled you can use it. They could just as well be sliders as far as I'm concerned. Really now does having it look like a Moog help you to understand it? You know what ADSR, volume etc. is. How did you figure out the second window? That was not even on the original Moog. It's really very easy, you turn the knob and hear what it does.
What really blows with a lot of synthesizers is the effects suck so you have to always find where they are in the patches and turn them off. Down with extra clicking! I wish I could remove all effects from all the patches at once.

Space between knobs and an airy layout causs less strain during usage.braincell wrote:You know what ADSR, volume etc. is. How did you figure out the second window? That was not even on the original Moog. It's really very easy, you turn the knob and hear what it does.
A one click for all effects would also affect chorus and flange, which again can take away a lot of what the sound is about. for most CW synths, turning off an effect is a question of 2 mouse cliks. tip: press "save" afterwards and you are fine.braincell wrote:What really blows with a lot of synthesizers is the effects suck so you have to always find where they are in the patches and turn them off. With Scope synths you don't even have to save them without effects, just hit the global effects off at the beginning of a session and leave off when you save the project. How many VSTis have a global effect off? But hey, i'm sure you'll find something to complain about with what i just said.next to nothing wrote:A one click for all effects would also affect chorus and flange, which again can take away a lot of what the sound is about. for most CW synths, turning off an effect is a question of 2 mouse cliks. tip: press "save" afterwards and you are fine.braincell wrote:What really blows with a lot of synthesizers is the effects suck so you have to always find where they are in the patches and turn them off. It seems to me that Scope has nothing you like - wrong type of PC connector, bad GUIs, bad customer service, bad marketing, bad DRM policy yadda yadda. i wonder why you stick with it? Most odd.

Most people don't complain and that is why problems never seem to get fixed. An example is central air conditioning. In every house I have ever lived in, the central ac doesn't work well upstairs. Heat rises and there also is less air flow by the time the air gets to the ducts. It could be solved by technology. I have noticed a really strong inertia in technology. Computers get faster, but the creative aspect of software design, doesn't advance much. Everything Sonic Core is doing is based on what Creamware did many years ago. The x-ite is better hardware using exactly the same software they had before. It's easier to make things faster and perform better because it's something you can measure and you can always buy faster more powerful chips etc.. It's the creative aspect of software design that is more difficult. It's pretty easy to copy hardware. Making original software is more difficult because it takes imagination, it takes creativity. Business should be a joint venture. Ask customers what they want, address issues that bother people but if the customers don't speak up, obviously they won't have any input. If you can't use *all* bitrates in Cubase, then it will severely affect product sales in the future I will promise you. Putting the blame on Steinberg is idiotic because customers just want to use their stuff and don't care who is a fault! Grrrrr!
