New WD velociraptor 300GB faster, cooler and quieter.
Awesome HDD 4 Sure.
I have used WD HDD's for over 5 years.
I chose them 4 their speed and super durability for streaming audio apps like Gigastudio, where the drives take major beatings over and over.
Great thing about WD is that they have such a great upgrade path once you buy into them.
I started w/ the 36GB Raptors w/ a 7,200rpm slower drive for O.S. + Apps..I then used the pair to do the O.S. + Apps chores and added the 74GB's to cover larger libraries. Then added the 150's which smoked, but their noise thankfully was muffled by the RAID cage
I will now have yet another upgrade path this Fall by using these in a RAID cage w/ the IcyDock Cooler / Silencer / Adapters.
I recently acquirred a dual RAID 1 ( 1U ) Glyph rack that will be used as a VDAT enclosure when the time comes. VelociRaptor will be perfect for that task.
