SpaceF MULTISYNTH - v 1.2

Post by spacef »

Hi,

There is a demo of MultiSynth available (see links at end)
Below, some mp3s made with presets from the demo.
Sounds a little bit the same because all presets use only the Microscope oscillator and the included filters (no other osc/filter used in demo) + all made the same day.

Some easy sounds (classic layers)

Demo Bank=1 Finger Bank (you press 1 key and it makes the sound)
Listen Soul-of-MultiSynth
Listen Layer B
Listen Layers D
Listen 2 tracks various presets (multitimbral mode, 2nd part = dirty filth, Drums=battery)

Using the "Jaws" Oscillator (kind of "super saw related oscillator", not in demo)
Listen Jaws (Jaws=chors, other Micro8k then, meta osc). Drums=multisynth.

DSP USE
========
All Demo sounds played with poly of 1 except "2track" multi demo, which uses 1+2+1+1+1+4T
==============================
DSP use depends on voicing (poly)
- all active, 1 voice, 1 or 2 Microscope osc per synth = 7.5 DSP (a bit more than 7, less than 8 )
- example 1 voice(bass)+2 voices(pad)+3voices(chord)+1(drums)+1+1+1+1+a stereo delay effect+a FP104 mixer all active)= between 1 and 2 dsp left on a scope board.

- The internal mixing sections (Aux Bus/Master..) load on same dsp.
- The global sections (aux, lfos, surface, mod a/b, x-mod,adders, fx on mod, insert mod, mod to CC10)= 1 DSP

RECOMMANDED SETUP
====================
1 scope board or more
fast computer

MultiSynth was designed for maximum backward compatibility until the very first versions of Scope. More recent board will just improve performances.

Other mp3s:
- "Audio Demos" Page http://www.spacef-devices.com/

Demo Device
- "Downloads" on http://www.spacef-devices.com/

More info

More info, manuals, videos etc will come in time. For the moment, there is some explanation in presets, and an emergency guide (quick start - the important things to know)....

I never knew about Mehdi's Oscillators.

They are practically each a whole synth in themselves.

Just the Microscope used twice in Synth 1 of Multi-Synth gives me 6 waveforms at different pitches and sounds amazing w/o even venturing into synth 2 or 3 or the Noise synth !!

It is a synthesizer workstation.

BTW my Flexor III stuff shows up when right clicking in the inserts, but I don't see the RD II Modules from Bowen. Are they compatible?

I would love to incorporate his Waldorf Pair II Oscillators.

Or do you have a similar Oscillator that has it's capabilities.

With the 6 LFO's I could make Waldorf's Blofeld look as if it came to battle unarmed !!

I would use a pair of these in Synth 1, then Microscope Vintage or Warp in Synth 2, while Synth 3 and the Noise Synth could add further modulation possibilities for an extreme 18 voice Super Synth. Oh I almost forgot, the SE-1X is inputted via the Audio In and sounds so FAT !!

This is really a masterpiece awaiting discovery.

Hi Jimmy,
if you want to use RD, you have the choice:

- duplicate them somewhere in the mono effect folder (of course, this assumes all your presets are in good standing and that Scope REference resolver does not pop up at RD preset loading. If SRR finds duplicates, it asks for manual confirmation.

- make a favorite pointing to RD folders in the file browser (of scope) and load them from there.

Awesome.

I had the folder in the stereo effects folder because of a couple of stereo efficets that came with the newest RD II's.

I now have Warp, w/ Microscope Vintage on Synth 2, and 2 x Waldorf Pair II's on Synth 1.

This is just insane.

Mehdi has sent me enough emails to write a manual !!

I copy and pasted all 17 of them to a word document.

How can anyone remember all of this stuff. You must have studied classical music as a child.

Some tips uploaded

1 tip i forgotto include, but may be one of the most important one:
- if you have only 1 remote pot to assign to a control of MultiSynth, then you should assign it to the MultiSynth bottom option page selector. Some operations using adders or fx on mod may include 2 or 3 back and forth, and assigning the page selector to a remote control make this oprations much quicker and easier.
- also, the bottom option page of each synth can be assigned (same reason)
- a few useful option will be added to adders, which is really a cool part deserving to receive more coolness. These will be low dsp additions that will not change any existing presets but will allow faster operation of a few things (saving other adders).

Truly A God Amongst Men.
:D

The power from this Beast is awesome.

I have bought and recieved the critical elements to stage rig this week.

I declare my DAW to be a SpaceF Synth.

I have 2 x 6 voice synths using Vintage Microscope, and RD II Modeles Waldorf Pair II. Each synth gets 2 Oscillators of each.

Synth 3 and the Noise synth I haven't even gotten to mess with yet and this layer is shaping up to be an incredible example of power and FAT combined.

I will have a VDAT demo by Sunday.

I have contacted the Guru / KeyTech / DAWMan for a lesson in recording Friday night. I will not return w/o a Kick Ass demo.

I am commited.

Unfortunately, I am easily frustrated, so I have to seek help w/ someone w/ patience and knowledge.

I have the newest Bowen and SpaceF stuff, it must be heard.

Mehdi thanks for posting the demo for the Multisynth. Audio dropout `i can deal with but I have to say that the nag screen is very frustrating. It's stopping me from figuring this synth out!

nag screen: this was to avoid the other methods that i used previously and that "froze" some parameters.

Nag screen tips:
- when it appears, put it out of screen: it will appear there next time.
- you can also check off the "=" button so it stays behind other panels.

The first tip is the best though (put it out of screen). It should work.

Mehdi,...My Brotha',

Is the Vintage Microscope available to everyone yet?

Since I fixed my folders I found that your Oscillators can load into ProWave !!

I just wanted to check out VMS ( Vintage MicroScope ) since it is actually 3 simultaneous waveforms w/ footage controls and detuning all wrapped up into one.

It is my Vintage Oscillator of choice now inside of ProWave. I had to take off all modulations so I could hear the rich natural detuning. Incredible Oscillator, really a super FAT BASTARD 4 sure. I can use the RD II Modules on one Osc. slot, and VMS on the other for awesome textures.

Back to Multi-Synth.

I have still so many experiments to do w/ the modulation choices, but have turned Synth 1 into a giant Polyphonic Analog emulation, and Synth 2 into what many would call a Waldorf Blofeld x 2. They sound amazing.

I really like the way that Synth 3 is like a home for all of the modulations to blend w/ those sweet sounding delays you inserted there. So since my SE-1X is already FAT and doesn't need any help, I can say I have the beginning of my first FAT BASTARD MULTI-SYNTH Combi.

There is so much more to this. I will continue choosing different adders and LFO's and Mod inserts,...Damn this things deep.

It sounds so big and real that I have to add a long attack to the LFO Swept Waldorf Oscillators after the Synth 1's 2 x VSM's attack is reached. My other hand is naturally doing the monophonic leads on the SE-1X.

Anyone who knows Modular is going to love this Beast.

I am also BETA testing Solaris 5.0 w/ it's PolyGlide features and separate Oscillator glides and new upgrades. I am hoping to eliminate my SE-1X. But that will not be easy.

This is a very busy week but I can't believe that I can get all excited w/ Scope still. It is thanks to the 3rd party guys who keep releasing these awesome creations.

I am like a kid in a candy store. :D

Your Flexor 3 stuff ??? Are you saying you can load flexor modular filter/oscs as well ?

or........

Cant seem to load any flexor stuff so I must be missing something!

Try the Modular Insert S, it works eventhough it is slower than with regular inserts.
ModularOscVideo
Same with filters (there are more instructions for registered users...)
You can't use the clock in the demo version for the Modular Modulation inserts because it has no clock in the demo (the clock in the demo works, but not with modular). + apparently MsEgB module looping is broken...

(Videos made in V 1.1 to be uploaded later today).

Nice Vids.

If we could only get Steinberg to do a small percentage of the customer service we recieve from you.

I find it amazing that one could ask for a small tip w/ his application, and recieve an Instuctional video as well as written.

I think this synth is incredible.

I cannot imagine what it would appear as in a hardware form? Maybe as big as Keith Emerson's Moog Modular from 1972.
