Scope 14 DSP Version 1 with Pulsar II and Pulsar I -

Ok, I picked up a 15 dsp (I understand they are called 14dsp now as 1 dsp is for overhead) which is first generation, I have 6 dsp pulsar II and 4 dsp pulsar 1. The system is going to be used primarily for synths and effects and will be used standalone not for asio. Am I going to experience a lot of stdm connection errors with this configuration? Gurus please feel free to comment or suggest.

Presently I have a PULSAR II 6 dsp card and two PULSAR 1 4 dsp cards in the computer and they work fine for my application.

from what I know the main difference is that a generation 1 card has a higher asio latency..
but that doesn`t matter as you have a type II card also and you don`t wanna use ASIO.

You seem to be correct. I installed it today, I put stdm cable across all three cards and a second stdm cable between the 15dsp board and the 6 dsp board leaving the middle stdm insert empty as recommended. Sees 25 dsp now more than enough power considering I have a second box with 10 dsp in it as well.

I did notice one issue, when it reloads projects which are say 85% or greater dsp load, I sometimes need to quit scope and reload again before it can prooperly allocate the resources across the dsp. Is this normal?

Hifi is right. ULLI comes with a second gen card in all 1st and 2nf gen combinations.

I`d say yes, I have these problems also from time to time with dsp reallocation...

I have a 15dsp and 6 dsp type2 card.

thats one of the few things from the scope platform that annoys me a bit.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the feedback. This is a nicely moderated group .... reminds me of the Cubase VST mac forum which was always a great place to visit. Enjoying the extra DSP.

as for me it reminds me of the old good times on the OASYS-PCI forum.
Seems to be a nice community here, with a bunch of skilled and helpful people. :)

SPOTS I am on the OAsys PCI group, I still have two oasys cards in ITOX dragon cases. Don't remember you from that group but I did some sound design for Harm Visser and Norsez. Are you still an OAsys user?

I guess last time I checked/posted on the OASYS PCI Group was something like 3-4 years ago (duh!). (I had a different nickname at that time).
I also have 2 OASYS PCI boards.
Now you say it, Norsez sounds familiar to my ears ;-)

Very good, creamware is what oasys promised to be but I have made such an investment in creating sounds for my Oasys , I won't let them go. I got sucked into the Creamware vortex a year ago December and now have 6 cards in two rigs. Love this platform. K'Nex for synth geeks. I agree the OAsys PCI forum was and is still a friendly place to go, I get regular email and contribute where I can. Harm Visser was the chap that released those physical models and is a good friend of John Bowen who hosted his plug-ins for while. In fact it was that link that got me reading about creamware. At any rate , nice to run into an old OAsys PCI user here.

actually there are 2 kinds
15 dsp actually has 15 dap and 14 dsp has 14 dsp and no ram

I agree that the physical modelling is oustanding on the OAsys, For $299.00 you can pick up a massive library of oasys synths ( well over 100 )from Harm Visser everthying from tibetan bowls to reeds, gong explorers. This is a a powerfull collection and the main reason I will not give up on the long dead platform. Harm does synth design for the Tassman and other PM platforms. Harm's oasys physical modelled synths cover a huge range of sonic possibilities. I often wonder why pm synths are not common on the creamware platform.
