Added LimFat Redux

Sept 1st 2009

Added LimFat v2
==============

The FAT Inserts, demoed for monthes now, are publicly released and available through SpaceF shop pages.

Read all you want to know about them and download a demo from
http://www.spacef-devices.com/ (the demo contains 5 of the 8 FAT Inserts, inlcuding the new "G" versions).

info also: http://www.soniccore.de/index_en.htm

- Public price: 69
- SpaceF Users: have a look inside the User Area and check the special coupons. I hope you like them.

nb: no video yet... please try the demos for the moment (videos can't be done before next week).

UPDATES IN USER AREA:
=====================

I have uploaded a new package for the FAT Inserts, available in the User Area.
- When you click on "R" on the device, a "designed by..." text appears. On some of the inserts, it was appearing in the wrong place. Fixed..
- FAT GCM / GCS : added knob to remote control the filter selector. The filter selector can be "click-and-dragged" anyway, but the knob is what is needed for remote controllers. Fixed.
- FAT GM: the vu meter was not functionning in "G" mode (ie, post gain). Fixed.

Special Thanks:
=============

- I cannot forget Scope4Live who has been using the FAT Inserts for monthes now. This is may be the longest plug-in evaluation that ever took place at SpaceF (6 monthes for a few knobs and buttons !).
- Many thanks to all beta testers: thanks to your courage and heroism you have saved the nation from the threats of keys confusions, wrong deliveries and developper's depression. Many thanks to you, I hope you enjoyed the experience, and I thank you again.
- Many thanks to Ralf for lightfast key deliveries and patience while I was tuning the website and process to send the key requests.

Additional Infos:
==============

- If you were a beta tester for the new shop and didn't have the time to buy the product as I closed the shop this week end for improving a few things. No worries, you can purchase until the end of the month.
- if you were a beta tester and did not receive access codes to the user area (unlikely as i checked but still possible), just contact me to get the codes.

Ok now, I must finish the FP106 mixer... ;-)

I am a SpaceF abuser. :roll:

I use his devices to abuse the ill prepared preset riders who plague Las Vegas and Lake Tahoe.

Yes, and soon in the swamps of South Carolina, as our tribute band will have an opening act. :lol: As if we were celebrities or something.

It will be interesting to say the least.

Mehdi has the most awesome learning tools now at the site.

He needs a vacation from all of this extra work.

So take notice of the donation tab,....a very smart inclusion IMO.

I was wondering though, why now all of this new stuff, in preparation of Soniccore's new cards or drivers perhaps?

Join his forum.

He says it's cool to post risque pics of people at the gigs,...I just pick out the fine ones, as there are so many to choose from, especially at the Palms. The Billionaire who owns an airline company ripped his britches as he repelled from the top of the Playboy Club Tower the other day. But I'm sure nobody wants to view his ugly old ass, so those won't be available. But if Mr. Touzani keeps on insisting to see them,.....I will have to honor his wishes. :lol:

The owner of Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Express, Virgin Blue Airlines, Richard Branson.

He's trying to get laid by this cocktail waitress at the Palms. She is quite fine looking. He asked what it would take to get a night with her, she replied " Jump off of the Playboy Tower ", so he repelled 40 some stories instead !! Gotta love the guy. He's a crazy stiff lipped Brit.

I think he got her attention.

Anyway I was just bustin' your balls about you wanting a pic of his ripped britches. :lol:

The FB5 BTW is the most awesome synth and sampler mixer ever made. Nothing in software or hardware out there can do what it does. GaryB and Kensuguro will be here for the VH Reunion in late December. They will shit their britches when they see what 2 x KS88's and this thing can do in real time.

I am even considering using a hardware sequencer to change programs and automate some of it's vast capabilities. I only have so many feet and hands.

If you don't buy his mixer, and opt to use these where needed, they will work fine.

I find that in the STM1632, one can place this in AUX 4 and make all of the other AUX's effects warm up very nicely.

I had the SpaceF bb-Synth FX, in AUX I, Hexa chorus in AUX II, PCM91 Reverb in AUX III, and the little bitty FAT-S in AUX IV. It added such warmth to the other FX that when I chose AUX III, and IV only on samples, that the PCM91 had a much warmer sound, as if it needed any help.

When placed in AUX I, it can actually override the other FX and cause you to raise their levels. I do not know what this type of placement can be called, but just try it out in all of your AUX's and see if you like the way it works.

Very Nice.

Talking about gain, the volume difference is that , as designed as an input device, the FAT can add up to 6dB in *2 mode with valve at max. As an input, it has to add a bit of gain in addition to what it is really supposed to do (add/modify harmonics and give presence to sound sources, ie, cures the impression of void in those digitalized sounds (by adding fat!).

In the future, I can do a version with gain attenuator at the output (I am not really in favor of an auto-normalizer or even a gain for the outputs because of ressources but i can think about it for a moded Fat G if people really need. In fact, the gain out is generally the mixer's own faders or post valve effects in/out gain. Adding a gain would just replicate those post fader gains. The only thing it makes more easy is A/B comparisons for video tutorials ;-)

bouncing with the FAT insert

Post by jbraner »

I know this is a stupid question, but I've forgotten how to do this. I am trying the demo of the FAT insert, and it sounds nice.

I am using SONAR 7 (on Win XP), but this question pertains to any sequencer. Where do I put the FAT insert so it's part of a bounced down audio file from within the sequencer?

IOW, I put it as an insert on the main outs of my STM1632, and it sounds great. When I bounce down a file from within SONAR, I still hear the "FAT" because it's on my mixer - and I'm playing the file out my monitors. The "FAT" is not in the audio file though. If I remove the FAT insert from my mixer - the bounced audio file is not "FAT".

I can't figure out where to put this in the SFP routing window (or in the ST1632) so that it is part of the (internally in SONAR) mixed down audio. You can tell I haven't touched my default file in awhile ;-)

Can anyone remiond me?

Thanks

i'm not sure i answer your question but let me try ...

Whatever the effect (and yes I love my FATs too ! :D ), the key point is : my sequnecer will only record the audio coming from the ASIO DEST module (rooting window). In fact, you must connect the ASIO DEST module "in front" of what must be recorded in your sequencer :
1) master out of the scope mixer for a total bounce
2) the specific out (where the FAT is inserted) if you want only the audio processed with the FAT).

My answer seems to simple so I am wondering if I do reply to your question ?....

yes, like billy said :-)

you record the mixer"s outputs (master or individual channel outputs) in an audio track , by connecting it to the the "asio dest" channel (or wave dest if you use wave drivers).

edit: xtc: i can't test xtc right now, but you should at least be able to load any insert in the multi-fx xtc insert (xtc is a mode that is half a SFP in possibilities, but allows to use dsp effects anywhere in the vst sequencer channel's inserts).

All the best

Mehdi
