An update regarding availability.......
I asked Gigabyte USA about the retail vailability of this board. Here is their answer:
Answer : Dear Customer,
The model GA-P35-S3G was released to dealers early this week. All our dealers should have them within the next week or shortly thereafter:

Solution = PCIe firewire card. Just choose carefully! The SYBA SD-PEX-FWB looks like it may be a good choice if you need firewire. I don't, right now. My motherboard just arrived - $88 at eWiz.com. I'm waiting for a couple more components.
