experiences with Gigabyte P35-DS3R mainbord?

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with this P35 board.

I caught my attention primarily because of the layout of the expansion slots. It looks like it would allow installing a passively cooled videocard (which tend to take up the space of an extra slot for the cooling construction) AND 3 creamware cards in the standard pci slots.
I liked the idea of using a passively cooled videocard like GeForce 7600 or 8600 for my soon-to-come system upgrade, so I can do a bit of gaming as well as not have my system sound like a vacuum cleaner all the time

The layout of something like the Asus P5k doesn't seem to allow for this as the first PCI slot is located directly beneath the first PCI-E slot.

Well, I’m using the P35C-DS3R with great results, great stability, fast and reliable. Extreme good quality components are to take into account with the “Ultra Durable” technology.

Simple but effective BIOS

I have been using it for about 6 months now, and I am very satisfied.

I have not tweaked it yet, I think I will one day, but tens of reviews I have read about the P35C-DS3R says it is one of the best ones for overclocking. I understand that if a board works great overclocked, it will work even better at normal speeds, of course. I mean, if you have this extra power “space” (if I may say so), that the connections streets of the design allows, that can easily be translated into greater stability.

Gigabyte and Abit are best known for their RAM tweaks.

Intel recently started incorporating those tricks in their new BIOS on the P35's, and X38 / X48 series of mobo's.

The P35 whoever uses it on their designs is just " Damn Audio Friendly ".

I always had great stability streak w/ Intels mobo's and chipsets, but only could get 10 or 11 MVerbs on the bandwidth test. I didn't care as I had lot's of power, and use hardware reverbs anyway. But the 16 MV's we got last week was suprising. I thought no biggie though.

When I started messing around with it and tried other VST apps, etc. It is super fast, and is a freakin' joy to use.

Scope slowed down a little as I jumped from 36 to 45 DSP's on this particular DAW, but the MV test reflects other area's of a DAW I think too.

I never had such snappy, fast and smooth reactions to other apps.

Whatever happens to you, be happy you guys have upgraded to the P35 chipset. Their performance would be hard to top IMHO.

I have MB with p35 chipset is one ASUS P5K-VM with ddr2 800 with quad core duo 2.4.Here all fine only the irq setting of scope are condivise bat seems no problem,in windows vista the irq setting of scope are no condivise seems better,
I have one scope perofessionale and scope SRB

my new DFI P35 Lanparty mobo is expensive but it is really a killer !!! (please see my thread on the tech forum).

Furthermore I have a Gigabyte video board (8600GT 512 Mo / GV NX86T512H) without fan (100% silent) which just need 1 sole slot !!!! I had the previous version of the 7600GT and indeed it took 2 slots...

I used to say: “this board is the best”, bla bla, but now I know that this way of seen things was a mistake. I now understand that there is a “best” but only in relation to what you need to do.

There is no better MOBO, or RAM or CPU, it all depends in what you need exactly. So, the best in fact, is TO KNOW what you need exactly, then you’ll easily find “the best for you”.

for me it looks like this board will be the best, for the reason I outlined in my original post: good layout of the expansion slots (although as bill3107 says, it seems there are passively cooled videocards that don't take 2 slots as well, but then at least this board will give me the choice

I have a cheapo Gigabyte mobo (946-GMX-S2) with the first PCI slot right beneath the video card and in fact I tried a Pulsar as close as 2mm to the passive heatsink of a Geforce 8600 (also Gigabyte brand - one of those slim things, 8mm or so...)

Sitting in a horizontally oriented 19" rack case there were no (immediate) problems with the top cover open, but to close the box probably wouldn't be such a good idea without an extra fan.
