There is a 5 and 6 pci model for the 965 which is core 2 duo, and q6600 compatible.

But not the new CPU's or chipsets.

The fastest you can go here is the QX6850. Plenty fast enough.

But 3 Scope Pros, and 2 x UAD's should alleviate the pain of VST.

That gigabyte board has something called ITE IT8208M PCI arbiter on 2 of the slots. the entire PCI bus appears to be isolated from any other devices.

it might be a good thing.
here is some taiwenglish about it.

dont worry about the "solid capacitor" BS. server boards dont use them. electronics made ages ago with regular electrolytics are still working.

once upon a time a Japanese capacitor factory found out one of their employees was a chinese corporate spy, so they gave her a phony chemical formula. the formula was spread far and wide in china. unfortunately this was the formula which causes the old exploding capacitors.

new motherboards and other electronics are careful to avoid these. but if you are into electronics, be careful what you buy for spares on ebay.

I can Hot Swap in XP. It works well w/ my content drives. O.S. + Apps. is something I do not care to try though.

Nice story Nuetron. I remember Abit having design problems, and trying to come back w/ a marketing ploy stating a " no capacitor leakage design".

I know one thing, I believe the DP35DP will be the last board Intel ever releases w/ 3 x 32bit PCI's.

Good Luck w/ your choice.

One Taiwanese mobo for another, seems like everyone is from there w/ the exception of special industrial designs and you know who.
