ok, the difference - at the moment of the buy - is 2000,- dollar minus the cost of a router :-D
that is, if Gary (to name one) builds it, more appropriate would be to compare it with a first class ready made Xeon of eh how much?

no just core2 duo or quadcore, that's what apple is using.

no worries, I enjoy the debate, as you know :-)
I just got triggered by the suggestion mac users are kinda snobs with too much mony (apart from the proposition you can't modulate or extend a mac) :-)

btw Huub, did you notice the attempts to establish online searches of PC disks by legal authorities in your (eastern) neighbour country ?
What are they gonna do with an OS 8 or OS 9 target machine ?

LMAO, Tom

well, the ministre of the interior suggested a law to legitimate spreading of certain malware by the authorities to be able to get online access to a suspects harddisk.
It's been nicknamed the federal troyan :D
this is no april's fool, they seem to believe their target group stupid enough to use a regular Windoze...

confused, Tom

I suppose it's (said to be) aimed at hunting for terroristic activities?

what else would you expect it to be... ?
and who will connect his or her 'conspiracy machine' to the internet right now, after those plans have been aired ?
so it's told to be intended, but in fact it cannot be intended at all, as everyone concerned with that stuff is already warned and will adjust actions.
Use another OS, a different CPU, a 2nd or 3rd machine...
soon you'll be sued for use of vintage computer gear... :P

cheers, Tom

I don't think Macs are particularly well made anymore. I think they are made in China like every other computer is.

it doesn't matter where they are made, it matters what is said to put together :-)

it's marvelous to see :-)

Quanta Computer makes Apple's computers in Taiwan and Shanghai. Guess who makes Dell computers? That's right it's Quanta Computer. It's a myth that the hardware is any better. I know from anecdotal evidence that the iPod and the Nano are poorly made and sound horrible. Guess who makes those and the iPhone? Once again you are correct it is made by Quanta Computer. Apple just slaps their name on it. They aren't even really a hardware company anymore. It's all a big lie. It's marketing and fashion and has no basis in reality.

The chip which is the brain of the iPhone was invented in a hut in India and sold to Apple before they even had the idea of making an mp3 player. The fact is that Apple had virtually nothing to do with the invention of the iPod.

I just don't believe so, it doesn't matter who emballages it, any manufacturer can do it, it matters what is put together.
But I won't convince you, and I actually don't know, but I'm sure there's quality inside :-)
