Is firewire recommended,or will it just cause
a new set of problems like bandwithproblems,IRQ conflicts etc?

Is FireWire good for HardDisk...???
the answer is YES!!.
I have a 40MB Glyph HardDisk, it is awesome!!
I use Cubase and I can use 24 tracks of Audio and the disk activity is no more than 40% of the Disk (play and record). I have a PC, so I had to get the FireWire Adapter, it takes an IRQ out of your sistem, but guess what?.. I can plug other 3 firewire devices on the same card
, that means I save IRQ's after all.
