Scope on Asus P5W DH Deluxe, i975X - any experiences ?

Hello,

I am planning to set up a new scope computer based on core2duo (winXP at first, later maybe Vista ).
The most interresting board seems to be the Asus P5W DH Deluxe, as it has a very good slot setup with PCIand PCIe to connect future with available cards. But I read about some problems on the lower slot caused by IRQ sharing with the ICH7 (?).

Is anybody here who is running this Board successfully with scope on the lower slot(s) ?
I have 2 cards and so I guess I have to use the both neighboured slots on the lower.

Also the system should run 2 x MSI RX1650PRO-T2D256EZ passive cooled graphic cards to get a multiscreen setup + video out

Does anybody uses this card in a dual screen setup ?

Here is the complete planned system:

Asus P5W DH Deluxe
2 x MSI RX1650PRO-T2D256EZ
core2duo (E6600 probably)
4 Gigs DDR2/800

or is there a better, recommended setup for a core2duo/scope system ?

folks here have been having good experiences with the DG965RY motherboards from Intel.

thanx - but it has only 1 x16 slot, so triplescreen only possible with parhelia I guess.

Im using 3 screens..
Im using a matrox dualhead2go on one of the monitor ports..

my intel mobo D975XBX2 is very very stable ; i had bad experiences with Asus and i have found out that an intel based system (INTEL chipset+mobo+cpu is the most stable option !) :

- Intel D975XBX2 mobo
- 1 scope pro
- 1 7600GT video board fanless (dual screen)
- core2duo E6600
- HD Raptor 150Go
- Ram Corsair 2Go
- Nuendo
- 100% Noctua fans (very very quiet !)

This mobo offers 2 pci slots and several PCIe x16 !!!!!!

FYI:

I now have built a system which overall works VERY stable:
- Asus P5B deluxe
- E6420 @3.2 GHz (with standard Vcore, boxed cooler, works fine & quiet)
- 2 x Power Color X1550 SCS passive cooled graphics ( 3 x 1600 x 1200 + Video)
- 4 GByte G.SKILL DDR2 800 / 4T
- XP professional SP 2

As the 2 graphics and the scopes is close packed, I added a (quiet) 12 cm fan over the set to keep them cool.

My scope is still a old pulsar 1 + SRB 1, but works fine so far. I just have some trouble using ASIO and MME drivers togheter but this is a XP thing.
As the Boards are generation one, I just can start 3 - 4 (save: 3) Master Verbs.
Looking for a newer Scope Pro Board now.

The both PCI slots between the PCIe x16 Graphics slots (where I installed the cards) is shared as followed:

Slot 1: IRQ 21 -> Texas Instruments OHCI IEEE 1394
Slot 2: IRQ 22 -> Microsoft UAA Bus Driver for HD Audio

I deactivared both devices in bios for testing but it doesn´t affect the PCI performance or has only a very small effect. As the performance is as good as on my older P4C 800E, I guess its limits of the generation 1 cards, not the board.
I think it is a good combination as it deliveres lots of host processing power for very small money. So it is ideal for combinations of VST / native and scope routing and additional FX.

triple screen is also possible with ASROCK motherboard,it's called video surround,its use internel VGA of MB with additional VGA on PCI express
