flexor III praise

Post by eliam »

Sorry for teasing the majority with this, but I thought it would be a good time to start on this topic. I'm in the middle of mixing my new album so I haven't explored extensively this fabulous kit, but I toyed with some modules and included some in my mixes. Guys, this is da bomb.

I'm particulary fond of the saturation devices in flexor, and the new modules bring many new saturation flavours to complement the 'old' ones. I don't think I have one mix which does not include some flexor saturation, many times on voice. The new ones are awesome!

Ok, the choruses now... These have some serious guts! I think there are 6 or 7 choruses, flangers and phasers in the 'comb filters' section. I used them to animate a church organ patch earlier today and they're top-notch! Amazing sound! I used a band-passed delayed signal which I ran through a chorus on a vocal track, and it gave serious depth and spiced it up in an incredible way!

I tried some of the other filters, which are many, and they also bring new nice colors to the already awesome palette of flexor 1.5. I'll wait before commenting more on these.

So, no surprise here, this kit is an amazing value, we could spend months and years on this thing and barely scratch the surface! Thanks to the flexor team for bringing these tools to the masses for an incredibly low price! I really feel that we are a step further into digital sonic manipulation and this is a good feeling!

Again, sorry for the teaser, the wait shouldn't be too long now!

Anyone else care to comment?

it's sad the I don't have the time to fiddle with f3 right now due to heavy workload, and you who are eager to patch around have to wait.

life is just inequitable...

Now, does anybody wanna tap something into their keyboard about Flexor? Or what?

Just passed some processed sitar through the granular delay, then through follower-modulated band-reject filters... :o wicked! I'm overwhelmed by the endless possibilities! crazy stuff! I'll post some tracks soon...

No one else is using flex3? Please post your findings!

Sadly I'am also in the same position as kylie ! :x
I had time to browse but not explore, yet the version 3 number is well deserved !
After Flexor 1 / 1.5 I was really hungry for more, now I feel satiated : massive number of new possibilities and it will accordingly require a massive amount of time to digest the possible new sonic ranges.
In the meantime just playing with the new oscillators just shakes the walls :D

ok, I havn't really explored all of Flexor 3 yet. What happened was that the string oscilators caught my attention quite early in the process and I've been fiddleling with them ever since. They are amazing, hands down! I love the sounds they can produce and I love how you, by pushing them to the edge and making minute changes in the parameters can create the wildest sounds :D I love it - I have the feeling that these string oscilators and the kind of sounds they can produce are what I've been looking for to really get hooked on the modular.

The vowel filter is nothing less than incredible! And the choruses live up to my first impressions and beyond!!! Pristine sound guys, I'm in modular heaven and I'm not coming back! There are awesome delays that can serve as reverb building blocks...? I'd like to know more about this if anyone have some insight on the matter...

eliam check the version 3 patch folders under FX, there should be at least one verb to start (XoRVerb)

What is there not to praise? :)

The filters provide sound that was not facilitated with CW and Flexor 1 modules.. quite a different sound, and to me that's very welcome ! I really like all the usability improvements, like the new textboards and the easy-to-drag shapers and such - much more modern GUI.. really speeds up making sounds for me.

And what I especially love is all the "flavored" modules that provide a characteristic special sound.. there is so many of these.. like the detunes, special filters, effects.. distortions... awesomeness!!

Flexor 3, IMO, adds as much as Flexor 1, or even more., amazing power and creative options to Modular. There are so many cool toys in there that it's hard to believe.
