dualcore question
Gary, is there a way to choose an IRQ ?
Gary,
I have a DP965LT and had IRQ sharing problems : two of my CW cards were on IRQ 11 and one on 10 with an ICH8 Family SMBus Controller at the same time (I don"t know what it is).
I just disabled two USB ports, now the two cards which were sharing the same IRQ are on IRQS 21 and 22 alone, which is good, but the third card has come to IRQ 18 shared with "ICH8 Family PCI Express Root Port 3". I have an ASUS PCI Express graphic card and I don't know if the mentionned material on the shared IRQ is linked with it or not, so I don"t know if I can disable it or not. Furthermore, the same IRQ (18) was shared with an USB port (that I .
disabled, which makes 3 of them ! and yet still and IRQ is shared).
Do you have any suggestion ?
thanks in advance for your answer.
thanks, also, for your general rich contribution to this forum which, believe me, is full of very important and precious information for someone coming here to findsolutions to his CW problems like me.
Best regards.

Iokanaan,
You can disable the SMBus in your BIOS. It stands for System Management Bus and provides features for externally monitoring your system...an IT feature.
I'd experiment with disabling the SMBus and restoring the USB controllers that you disabled. This should allow you to go back to the IRQ10 and IRQ11 without any conflicts with other devices. Scope cards are okay when they share with each other.
Garyb, what do you think?

Thanks to both of you for those answers.
currently I put back the usb ports and disabled the SMBus and there is no IRQ shared with any other device, but 2 of my CW cards still share the same IRQ 10. Are you sure this is no problem ?
Gary, when you say "the usb ports must be disabled", you seem to talk in a general way whatever may be the situation. In the case I described, do you think that I still need to do so even if there is no IRQ shared by my Creamware cards with any usb ports ?
Last question which has no link with CW : since I now have my OS boot on a SATA HD due to the Intel DP965LT motherboard, the Acronis True Image software 9.0 I used to use for creating images of my OS disk does not work anymore since there seem to be no SATA drivers on the boot CD (when I boot on it my SATA HD do not appear). Does anyone of you know a good image disk software with incremental copies which would allow to boot and recover an image of a SATA drive from the boot CD of the software ?
thanks in advance for your answers.
Best regards.
