pop-ups on z?

hi all,

recently I seem to get pop-up windows when I come to z. Or could it be my Adware SiSoft Sandra??

Yes, but then you'll loose all cookies etc. If you don't want to do this then right-click on your Explorer icon, then click Properties, Settings, View Files

You can then click on View and "arrange icons by type". From this you should be able to see the "odd file". Most will be just gifs and jpegs, html pages etc. Your little pop-up generator should be the only one of its type. Kill it.

These sort of stored pop-up ads are damn close to being viruses. I hate 'em.

Maybe it's Spyware! Download and run Ad Aware from Lavasoft. It's free and it will wipe away any nasty spyware from your PC.

I'm not seeing banner ads here but I keep getting that stupid X10 ad for a hidden camera (seems to pop up when I use Excite or Yahoo).

Ok thanks I've followed your advises. I hope they don't come back. Most concerned however I was with planetz, but no body seems to get the popus here, so z is clear.

I "removed teporary internet files" many a times without loosing cookies, back when I was on IE. They are not stored in the same folder either, so I believe, that is not a problem.

Thanks. They are in the same folder. But using the 'internal' remove in IE, you skip the cookies. I even think it asks weither you want to remove cookies or not.

There's many different ways of killing temporary net fluff with the commands varying depending on what version of IE you're running.
