Do i need Scope Software to use Pulsar 2

Post by skapoor »

Hello: I want to use the Pulsar 2 soundcard to play sound of my PC on a Windows XP environment. I downloaded and installed the drivers for it from SFP_v3_1c.

Now my question is that do I need to run the Scope Software in order to play any sound (just .wav or .mp3 file) from the soundcard?

Even if I go to the Control Panel and to the Sound and Audio Devices and try to play any built-in sound from Windows I cannot play it. Is it because I don't have the Scope Software running?

Thanks:

yes. you need the scope software running.

pulsar is for music production. it's not as convienient as a soundblaster when used as a windows soundcard. windows control panels are meaningless to the scope card.

it's a DSP card...you need to load the DSPs by configuring your virtual studio with the needed Ins and Outs (ASIO, Midi, etc) first, and save that project to recall or auto startup at boot.
Use the Wave Source and Destinations modules to monitor WMP and other Windows native sources which don't rely on ASIO :-)
check the manual, you get to learn it's concept, it's not different from a real world studio :-)
