An upgrade from the nice people at Sonicore
Hi there.
I have an old Pulsar 1 board with 4 DSPs.
I asked Sonicore what would I get if I got the Scope 4.5 upgrade. For a price of 192 Euros, I got the 4.5 software AND the Synths and Sampler pack. 192 Euros!
I now have the Minimax, Pro-12, B2003, Vectron, Modular 3 and SB404. For 192 Euros!
These devices are the real dog's dangly bits!
192 Euros! I now have the synths I've wanted for 5 years. For 192 Euros!
Can't be bad, can it?
I think I better learn how to play a Hammond, because the B2003 brings back memories of Deep Purple(Jon Lord) and all that Hammond stuff from the early 70's. If only I had the hair....

+1 I have 3 machines...7XL wrote:If SonicCore really wants to impress me, do like UA does and authorize all my plugins for all my cards (6 cards spread across 3 machines). I'm sure that I'm not the only person with this "issue".
...and I will never sell my Cards!

4PC + Scope 5.0 + no more Xite + 2xScope Pro + 6xPulsarII + 2xLunaII + SDK + a lot of devices (Flexor III & Solaris 4.1 etc.) + Plugiator.
maybe some smart *ss has published a universal key so restrictions don't make sense anymore for universal audio... ?
I have no idea, but I wouldn't be surprised either.
that for one and two for greed is man's strongest emotion
Scope stuff is already dead cheap, they've bundled the hell out of the store and you still can't get enough... what was that Aretha Franklin thing about 'Respect' ...?
btw I also appreciate the nice agreement SonicCore made with a long term customer, but it should remain like that - on a individual base.

There's no greed involved.
As far as I know there is no workaround for the UAD cards. The authorization is much like that of the CWA products.
And as far as cheap, not hardly. Consider this situation I have a Power Pulsar with a Z-Link interface, I've had it for 4 years. I want to move it from my commercial studio to my home studio. I want to make the machine with the Scope Pro a synth machine. In order to get all the plugins that I already own on 2 machines to a third it will cost me over $1000 USD. Even to a rich man $1000 is a good chunck of change. BTW the machine that the Power Pulsar is coming from also has a Scope card with a few added plugins.
The UAD authorization for multiple cards is simple, install the card in the same machine that you have one in, authorize the card(s) to your account, you have all the plugins that you've already paid for. You can then move that card to a different machine if you desire, keeping all the authorizations.
And your little jab about respect shows very poor taste.

It's all well.astroman wrote:sorry, I overlooked the 'my' before plugins ... was focussed on 'bundle' - my apologies
I take back the 'greed' regarding your person, but I'll keep it up regarding those who'd provide future 'fake' ownerships for 'friends', relatives etc - as it would simply be inevitable.
cheers, Tom
And I do agree about those that try and scam the system.
I 2nd the motion w/ 7XL,
I would pay for that service also. Plus I need to put a everything under my name by giving them all of my serial numbers which I believe are around 8 or 9 now. One never knows which DAW to use 4 certain tasks, and I always find myself wanting a device on another DAW.
Give Us The Body Of Ralf,

Give Us The Body Of Ralf,
yet it would lead to financial los to SC, Tom can't be wrong here.
there will soon offered cards with a lot of first class plugs on it, for a very very low price.
The cards itself (and the loose plugs also) will devalue at the same rate, which isn't in our interest eighter.
And SC would definitely sell less plugs by it, even without anybody intentionally misabusing the possibilities.
Yet I see the problem for those who work with different DAWs (not me, as I wanne have the cards in just one of my both macs).
Here shows up the advantage of the Native Instruments authorisation style, which uses your computer's identity for key generating, but then for (max) two machines.
Dunno about UA, but I don't think SC will ever allow all-cards-authorization without changing the way it's processed...

well, I didn't even think much about financial loss - I just quoted Jimmy's statement in a general context.
If there is a possibility for abuse, people will take advantage of it.
Not that I want to warm up one of those 'storms in a teacup' from the past, but I have clear evidence that (not so few) people took advantage from those misplaced 'demo' modules... years(!) before a certain french company entered the Scope market.
It happened by pure chance that I was talking to someone involved with software on the phone and mentioned Scope's solid protection.
He denied and said he knew about lots of 'free' devices circulating, from the time he had a Scope system himself. As it was several years ago, he couldn't remember any names, but his description of the visual appearance gave a pretty good hint what was compromised in which way.
Don't discuss it, just take notice that shit happens.
As mentioned I completely misunderstood 7XL and I agree with him and Jimmy that there could be an arrangement for 'multi-workstation-producers' to offer additional copies at a reduced rate - something like that should not be too difficult to negotiate.
Due to all the bundling and software updates it's probably not a wide spread request anyway and the relation of person-license#-card# is retained.
To activate the same # on several cards would possibly compromise the safety of the key algorithm - but I have no idea about it's math background.
cheers, Tom

Prices in the shop at the moment are as follows:7XL wrote:In order to get all the plugins that I already own on 2 machines to a third it will cost me over $1000 USD. Even to a rich man $1000 is a good chunck of change.
- PlugIn Activation Transfer 35.00 for one PlugIn
- PlugIn Activation Transfer 55.00 for one board
Ben
I have the same issue about that I would like to split the work of my (at the moment 6) cards in a different way. Here, I would like to use among other things the Sonic Timeworks p100 (and later Flexor3) in 2 different machines.
While this is kind of annoying, on the other hand, I can compare it to hardware stuff, where I have to pay for each instance of everything.
I have many plug-ins - also stuff, which does not come in packs. So personally, it could be convenient to just have everything everywhere. On the other hand, I've sold two of my cards second hand this year. I could have made a lot more money, if I had everything on them too. And I do see, how this would not be beneficial for SC. And after all, I would like to see a continuous cash flow at SC - for them to stay in bussiness. And everybody should know from history, that this is not just some joke.

Ben you miss my point.Ben Walker wrote:Prices in the shop at the moment are as follows:7XL wrote:In order to get all the plugins that I already own on 2 machines to a third it will cost me over $1000 USD. Even to a rich man $1000 is a good chunck of change.

I think that's in Euros. So even if you had 3 cards maxed out on each of your two machines, that would work out something like $300 Euros (c.$400). I don't think e.55 is such a bad price for a complete transfer, although it does mount up if you have lots of cards. Perhaps they could do a multi-card discount.

Ben
I do not want to transfer the authorizations, that would render my main studio machine virtually useless.
And as far as UA goes, they seem to be quite well with their cards, I have not heard of widespread abuse.
