In The Year Of Our Lord,........2007

The Pulsarians found themselves surrounded by hordes of Blackfin DSP's.

Their leader Frank sent a message to the beleagured force of Seiburg.............

Give Us The Body Of Ralf, And You Will Live As Slaves To inDSP,

Ali Then Said,.." We Stay With Our King.'

The Messenger Then Replied," Tommorrow, Our Arrows Shall Block Out The Sun."

Ali Replied," Then We Will Fight In The Shade."

So Frank Sent 50,000,000,000 whining emails to the server in Seiburg ( which never worked anyway )...it ceased to function forever.

A plaque now reads where the Observatory once stood...." Go Now Stranger,..And Tell The Pulsarians We Lay Here Obedient To Their Laws."

"March 28, 2007 - John Bowen Synth Design today is introducing the Solaris keyboard synthesizer. John's many years of sound design and user interface work have culminated in a synthesizer that is unparalleled for its ease of use and sonic quality. "While I certainly enjoyed many good years at Sequential Circuits (re:all products) and Korg (Wavestation, OASYS), working as an independent plug-in developer for the Scope platform over the last 7 years has allowed me the freedom to explore concepts and designs that I would have been unable to do elsewhere. Solaris represents the pinnacle of this development, and for several years I've had plans to turn it into a hardware version. Finally I can say, it is here."

Hey, I'm the winner of name contest :D
I hope really that john will remember me...

erminardi wrote:John, simply use your name, that it is already a brand of guarantee, just like Mr.Neve, Mr.Moog... and Mr.SSL (no, ssl, no, just kidding  )
You should capitalize your professional history with the use of your name.
Do you can explain better on PlanetZ your new company project ?
Do you will continue with Creamware DSP stuff or it is for new hardware?
Thanks, I'm very courious. :)
4PC + Scope 5.0 + no more Xite + 2xScope Pro + 6xPulsarII + 2xLunaII + SDK + a lot of devices (Flexor III & Solaris 4.1 etc.) + Plugiator.

if you are really considered (by john) to be the winner, there's still one decision to make... on page one I read this:
johnbowen wrote: I'm not really sure in this case what the 'prize' should be....you would have the pride of being the one who created the name, of course, but I suspect some will want additional incentives....so let me know.
satisfied with just the pride, I guess? :D

I think johnbowen is really a great choice....

It sounds good by default... :D

And I prefer it over the Zarg-music thing....

I`m not sure,
the contest-winner won`t get a solaris for free? lol

Oh - oh, I fear I will be in real trouble here, at least with erminardi :o

Has no one really noticed that I have been using John Bowen Synth Design on my site for almost 2 years now?

Anyway, I guess it's time for the big confession - this "naming contest" was a ruse, an excuse to get name suggestions for the new company of (what you now know as) Sonic Core. Since I've been involved with these guys for a while now, they asked me to post another 'contest' on Planet Z to see if any good company names came up. It was really amazing to find that many good names all were taken (domain name versions) by someone trying to make money on selling domain names.

Anyway, this was the purpose behind my post, nothing more....and I had to wait until the Solaris announcement today before I could comment on something that showed the connection between us.

Hope no one gets TOO mad or disappointed - I promise I won't do it again!

 sneaky buggers...

So it sounds like SonicCore was setup to build Solaris primarily, then the whole purchase of Scope from CW was a recent bonus?

(i noticed the Solaris had the John Bowen Synth Design logo on it, and thought - that was bloody quick getting that into the Solaris design after the contest! :D )

Heh, so that was the reason you didn't want the name to relate to you. I do guess, the result would have been different though, if we knew that the company was not "only" about synths. For me the synths are really nice high quality extras. I use Scope for mixing and recording.

How is Messe?

I don`t think they bought the CW licenses just for fun.

BTW I think SonicCore is a great name and very futuristic sounding....

Well they apparently built Solaris without ANY Scope components...so Solaris was going to happen even without them the Creamware firesale...good timing for the second bankruptcy I think!

don't be afraid John, only said it as a joke. ;)
I hope only that when I will finally have the budget for Solaris (software version), you will make me a discount...
I really think that it could be my next big purchase ;)

Thanks for reply. Have a nice day :D

It's great that this synth can be updated with new OS updates and extra additions. It is a bit like the Korg Oasys - they are adding extra synths on the OS etc.

Is it possible as the synth has so many knobs and displays that a new synth architecture could be loaded in via USB - and maybe if the labels don't correspond to the knobs one simply places an overlay ?

Perhaps I am leaping ahead but Solaris owners could purchase engines to use as extra synths on this mega-keyboard? - or extra module kits ?

I am very interested in buying this synth - i'm just worried you won't be able to cope with the massive demand this beauty will get :D :D :D :D

Ho,ho - forget the Prophet 5 - you are the Solaris Man now!!!!!
