indeed! This forum has always had a healthy dose of disagreement about all kinds of subject (from spirituality to technology), and even after a few heated words, no one's been throwing rocks at each other... We seem to have a mature crowd here... unlike kvr or other forums where arrogance seem to be a way of life...

This forum is dying a slow and painful death
John, this is an amazing forum, my favorite on the web for many years. And not just for the CW (SonicCore) dialogue, but general audio and the OT stuff as well. A remarkable collection of intelligent and articulate music people from all over.
We've had member pollution a few times before (it's the internet after all), and banishment restored the decorum. Banishment is an ugly word, I'm really sorry you're being forced to consider it. But there's no doubt it would cure the problem. And it seems to an unfortunate reality of maintaining civility in public forums.
But please, consider that the several members that you've included as offenders were seriously provoked, and have a long history of positive contribution here. The loss of Astro or Hub (I forget who else got sucked in to the baiting) would be a tragic consequence. The problem is not them - that's throwing out the baby with the bathwater. Or is that closing the barn door after the horses?....ahh never mind, you get my drift.
If this thread was a poll, the result would be goodbye d?s, and I would cheer.

One could choose to throw me out, to do the same with Astroman would be a nonsensical decision.

Me, I fight also on 'personal' (psychological?) level, just to unmask them as destructive forum members.

Hubird, although i find that your resolute and ceaseless pounding at D*S sometimes increases the conflict more than anything else, I agree with you on the basic principles which you press forward. I admire your and Tom's capacity to remain relatively poised even when under the unwarranted attacks and confusing mind twists of you know who... I don't know what others think, but I'd be sorry if anyone would even imply that any serious action could be justifiably taken against you in this matter. I want you to be among us for a long time!

'Resolute and ceaseless pounding' has some point, the conflict gets sharper then.
Then again, would the whole history not just last longer if I'd stayed out of the conflict (there are threads in which I hardly participate now and then, it doesn't matter, on the long run)?
Some might find my behaviour uncongenial sometimes, I then won't deny that even.
I just don't wanne be so dependant of the ability of the opponent to fight on the content in a logical and sane arguementing way.
It would then be much easier to find each other at some point.
With the lack of rational controll from you know I think it works better to seduce them to show the real (D*S) thing everytime.
Loosing gripp on the focus on 'content' is very frustrating, it are dead end streets.
The sometimes hilaric sequence of posts between f.e. Astroman and D*S may illustrate that, you get desperate sometimes by the lack of 'logic in communication'
I'm not even appealing to 'defend' myself against anything, I just count my ties

The "more pro than thou" attitude is, especially with the guaranteed vitriol, hard to read day in day out - i don't care about that, we are all learning our art.

As for the question of the thread, I would say let DAS post advertisements in Announcements, no more than that. IMO they've shown they can't (or at least don't care about) that boring old argue-by-content thing, they just have a ridiculous temper tantrum, it got old pretty quick. There are maybe some cultural blocks that prevent them from learning quickly, but I wonder if that angle is overstressed. They have big egos, could it be that simple. It's too bad, I'm sure they have knowledge and experience that would be very useful here, but we all know people who have the same, and no one will touch with a 10 foot pole because of the accompanying baggage.

This was very often used in the middle age in europ, put some (bad) people at a cross road , and authorized the others (good ones) to throw stones at them !!!

a mediator maybe (I m not sure, I`m german)
I use leo to translate the difficult words....
a second good tool is the google toolbar realtime translator. Once you move the mouse over an english word on an english site it transfers the word into your native language in realtime.
thats a powerful feature....
for the other thing,
although I was involved to a point some time ago, I tried to stay out of this "fight" for the last weeks / months. I concentrated on more consturctive threads... and ignored the others.
Because it does not make much sense to fight verbally in a virtual forum....

Banning might be a bit harsh, what about red card, sent off for a while and 3 strikes your out. People do make mistakes and sometimes say things they regret. If there a consequences they may think twice, I wouldn't want to be banned from Planet Z, I love this place, If I got red carded it would certainly make me pull my head in. Peace.

I really love the Scope concept and is very excited about the announcement regarding SonicCore. But great technology is nothing without a great and strong community.
I think the involved parties can be tremendous valuable assets for this forum and it would therefore be a loss for PlanetZ if the involved parties got banned. However, I do believe its necessary to moderate (ie. deleting posts or threads) a public forum - most of the time people can self-evolve, self-modify and self-moderate, but sometime things begins degrading and then someone has to intervene.
Every single forum on the internet have problems - I use another product called Modo (3d program) and Luxology have a great community, just like PlanetZ, but unfortunately they have exactly the same problem - and they have created a podcast (http://content.luxology.com/modo/201/po ... 3-2007.m4a) yesterday, that I hope you all will listen to - have some good points.
Remember that we are all humans and when we communicate on any forum, please be professional and diplomatic.
