suggestions for creamware
the connectors are standard and easily found. making a box is easy. pin out is easy. 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, etc. for detail take apart any midi cable. the audio is even easier. one could even use cables and put a female jack on one end, or buy an extension cable made that way. no big deal. length is not an issue. if you need 100's or 1000's of feet, there are cat5 midi extensions available. otherwise 50 or 75 feet(20+ meters) is no big deal.

Another big question:
It's annoying to save the slightly changed sts-programs with every project new, otherwise the settings are lost. So the versions of these programs accumulate to a big number during the years I'm working with.
Even when I assign a sts-file to a new MIDI channel, Scope asks me before closing to save it as a new sts-file.
Would it be possible to save the settings of an existing sts-file with the current project? Would be great for me.

the correct wiring is essential, imho, if you don`t want to make just an extension cable, but a real replacement. several wires for grounding will have to be in the right place, and one does not really want to check all pins versus all plugs... well, I would not want togaryb wrote:the connectors are standard and easily found. making a box is easy. pin out is easy. 1-1, 2-2, 3-3, etc. for detail take apart any midi cable.

a request for future products would definitely be:
several preconfectioned lenghts of breakout cables, seperately sold in the shop, or by the usual suspects...

I'm sorry, but my karma just ran over your dogma.

i definitly agree with you as for the ADAT..
I would add :
Step 1 : follow the UAD strategy : a quite "cheap board" would lead to many customers
Step 2 : developp good plugins at a cheap price (e.g. : P100) would encourage people to buy the board (good investment) and plugin purchase would be increased (we easily use the credit card for a small price). But i would suggest that every customer CHOSE the plugins as many will focus on mastering, others on synth, etc...
Step 3 : propose upgrade options in order to aim all the creamware addicts (e.g. : plugin migration, plugins at half the price, etc...)
I think that the first step is the most important : people MUST purchase the board. Step 2 will then follow for sure...

well, maybe it's easier (or more effective) if you put yourself and in particular considerations about your own cash into the position of the new company before actually giving wise advices...
all that doesn't come for free, but takes time and money
how much would you risk without a careful examination of business prospects and risks ?
I've learned a versatile word on this board - the word is waffling...
anyversion of the Scope system has been dead cheap in the past
(considering what you would have to spend elsewhere for similiar results)
was it a big hit in sales ? no
world class devices have been dead cheap (not only the P100) ...
sales were... you guessed it... meager (to use a moderate expression)
this system is not mass-compliant, as any human agglomeration above a certain size implies 'non-smart' as one of it's major attributes.
don't ask me why, but it's not just history telling this...
there is few need to analyze the Hows and Whys, there are facts, and one of those facts is named not enough sales even though there were quality products for a reasonable price, manifested in legal terms 2 times within 3 years. Period.
cheers, Tom

ok Astro, but why have a host of companies succeded ? Because of the FAME !!!!!!!!! Example : Universal audio ! I won't purchase any of their soundcard but we must face the truth. The very begginning of a success is BUILDING YOUR FAME : original product, hi-class sound, "unaffordable" product....and HI-CLASS WEBSITE !!!!!!
1) FAME leads to TRUST and REVIEWS (EQ, Mix, SoundonSound...)
2) TRUST and GOOD REVIEWS lead to PURCHASE (as distributor propose your products !)
3) PURCHASES lead to popularity and then FAME, etc....
You are right when you say that a cheap good plugin does not always become a best seller. The P100 is a good example.. But communication and marketing were awful in this period so that customers trust was already gone. Scope plateform was seen as already "old" (pci), there was many cheaper products at that time, etc... It is just a matter a combination. As you know the MOMENT you launch a product is as important as the PRODUCT ITSELF...
Of course, i am not a marketing director neither i am aware of confidential informations that, of course, have a great influence on decisions. I just hope that our thoughts on this forum can help, in a way, the new staff...
Thank you for your opinion though ; marketing is not a science.... may be just a "less risky" theory ...
That's just my humble opinion. i do think that creamware/SonicCore/inDSP deserve a better FAME. Should they leave CRAMWARE as a brand ? I don't now...

yes, correct - but what exactly is this based on ?...Because of the FAME !!!!!!!!! Example : Universal audio !
UAD is the successor of UA, the famous vintage brand that everyone seems to associate with grammy rewarded tracks...
hence - give me an UA in form of an UAD device - and I'm up for a grammy - and, best of all - I'm charged just 10% of price

as it was recently called - greed is man's strongest emotion
... and don't buy it today - next bundle will come, sellout will come, when they're broke you'll get it for bargain etc...
At CWA the famous-gear-by-the-slice attempt seems to have worked, guessing from ASBs and Klangboxes - the previous (too good to be true) approach get-them-all-in-one-box aka NOAH was a commercial failure (in particular considering developement costs)
one might deduce that greater simplicity (plus a psychologically more pleasing charge as the icing on the cake) could be key factors.
A complex system like Scope (which requires that you actually 'think' about your setup) has a very limited 'audience'. You have to take into account that you possibly cannot sell more than 1k items - not per month, but in 3 years...

cheers, Tom
i agree 100% with you concerning ASBs ! It's a good marketing product using a technology already handled. These boxes are great, sound great, you can easily identify on live sessions (not the case of a pci board
) and are well built... and are original and cheap (man you can get them at 500€ !!). This is a great step indeed : good reviews, new customers (i mean not only the scope fanatics like us
) and fame... Should they launch an original keyboard or a new big synth or stuff like that ... and it could boost their fame... Selling the new scope cards (if they chose to do so later) will be easier...
I really hope the best for the creamware staff. Man, musikmess is drawing near !!!!!!! .....
