Nice and catchy. Sounds like something I have heard before - but with out me being able so say, what it is. The singer has the Billy Idol kind of coolness ... pretty cool, that is. The over all thing reminds me of maybe old Guns'n Roses or something and a bit of Should I stay or should I go.

Funky pop!
I agree with garyb about the hats, they're a bit hissy and float on top of the mix.
I'd call it rock - maybe pop-rock. It is right, that the high-hat lift does take some focus. I noticed that too, but the music took over my concentration.
If you have transient designer, you can try to mess with the loop through that one. I did it once with a modular drum machine beat. going fra max attack minimum sustain to max sustain mimum attack really changed the whole feel of the beat. Adding in the by pass, it really became 3 totally different feels. The major difference being, that different "drums" and "cymbals/hihats" would go more or less front/back with the different settings.
It sounds great !! If I were to catagorize it, it would have to be POP, sorry. The thing is that it's good pop like Supergrass. In fact if you listen to mixes by Suprrgrass you'll probably find the perfect mix for this track very quickly including those hats.
