Simple Output Switcher For Monitoring (Stereo)

Post by katano »

Hi all

I'm looking for a simple output switcher (in stereo) that provides switching between at least 2 stereo outs (for switching between my 2 pairs of studio monitors).

modes needed are simple, a button to switch between the two and a button to listen to both at the same time. maybe an output level knob for each of the stereo channels would be nice to align the volume...

it may does exist already, but i didn't find it

cheers

Hey Katano, I was going to make this device today, then I realised a way you could do it with the L51 Surround level controller I made.

Image

If you want to try it, send your stereo monitor signal to the first L51 stereo pair, then connect the outs from the first stereo pair to your desired first pair of I/O destinations. Then connect the outs from the first L51 stereo pair to the inputs of the second stereo pair (Ls & Rs), followed by connecting the outs of the second stereo pair to your second pair of speaker destinations. The way that would work is that you would only switch on/off (mute) the second pair of speakers, as obviously muting the first stereo pair would also mute the second. It's a slight workaround for now, but I could easily add a feature which internally feeds the first stereo pair to the second pair via a 'speaker mode' switch or something like that. Maybe the interface is a bit chunky for your needs though....
