Guitar Rig Output Recording??

Post by Timbini »

Hi,

i am using pulsar 2 plus with 4.0 software and win xp home.
When i use guitar rig 2 as a standalone instrument, i can not record the output (input+guitar rig preset) with the tapedeck1 of guitar rig.
I used input and outputrecording in guitar rig.
Only the input (just the guitarsound without the presetsound) is recorded with tapedeck1.
Playing of presets no problem.
What is wrong in my scope project?

Many thanks!!

to do that in real time, guitar rig will need more inputs. how can you have 2 sources(the guitar signal and the processed sound) going into the same input and record what you want to?

really, it's hard to interpret what's up in that project(maybe if the asio source connects were highlighted it might help), but it looks like you have the guitar going into channel 1 of the mixer and out the "direct out" of the mixer going into the asio source input one. this is the sound going into guitar rig.

then you're listening to the output from guitar rig(asio source1 l,r) in channel 2 of the mixer(input2) and coming out of channel2's "direct out? nothing.

so, guitar rig is hearing only what comes directly out of channel 1 of the mixer, the dry guitar signal. in order to record the wet signal, you need another set of inputs(so that you can still put the dry into guitar rig to be processed) to connect the direct outs from channel 2 into. using guitar rig in the sequencer would make this job so much easier.

these connections and principles are identical to the real world, the same as connecting up to your amp and putting pedals in between. just follow the signal flow. you can also put scope effects in the chain, either as inserts or as modules in the routing window. the scope effects don't add any significant latency. .

you should check out dynatube, Celmo's GAM and Celmo's (free!) guitar bluesman. Celmo also makes a speker sim. these scope amps are just amps, you'd have to add effects(there's plenty of those and you've probably got pedals and guitar rig has them), but as amps i think they're superior to guitar rig and line6.

oh, i failed to mention,
right click on the asio source module to bring up the dialog to set the number of asio channels. there are other mixers and asio modules(i use the stdm2448 and asio2 24bit but that might be a bit to heavy of a mixer for a home card...). the number of channels for the asio modules must be set before opening the asio app(guitar rig, sequencer, etc.).

Guitar Rig

Thanks for your answer!
You wrote that i can use GR2 within my sequencer (nuendo3.2.0.) to play the guitar using the presets of GR2.
Sorry - but i do not understand all the modules of pulsar, and how to connect
them together.
Maybe you can post a screenshot of a project like this?

Thank you!

the modules in scope are easy.
they represent the jacks to connect cables to just like objects in the real world have jacks and cables. nuendo is a mutitrack recorder with as many ins and outs as the asio modules have when nuendo is opened(nuendo looks to see what ports are available on startup and configures itself accordingly).

the sequencer midi source is midi out of nuendo, the sequencer midi destination is midi into nuendo. the asio source and dest modules are the audio out and in jacks respectively for nuendo.

just use guitar rig as an insert in a channel. send the output out into the mixer and then send it back into another input(set up multiple ins and outs before opening nuendo). record to a second channel.

play with it, especially the routing. you can't break it.....

connect your pulsar source(in) directly into the asio dest, take your asio source and plug it into the mixing desk.I don't think there's any point in sending the pulsar 2 source into the mixing desk, put the mixing desk into the pulsar dest(out).
