took me a little moment to get used... I miss the contrast for the "hot" or "new" posts.
the posting menus are better though. congrats.

Just tried the new search (which is greatly enhanced over the old Planetz one) and searched on author John Cooper. His first post is :-

Planez has not being going that long?.

Now all the Planetz's database can be viewed by doing a search. This is a big improvement as before the search was limited to 200 results.

hi john,

first thanx for your great effort!

i have a few points:
- overall it's harder to read, as someone mentioned before it's all smaller now... thats the reason i choosed font size 14 for this post ;-)
- the difference between the symbols "new post popular" and "no new post popular" ist not visible, because they are also a bit tiny i think. other forums have animated gifs for new posts icons, what about that?

FORUM UPGRADE and SPAMBOT TROUBLE?

Post by Aries »

The Forum has gone past 3000 users to 3029 registered users.

The last registered user XXXPorn890 looks like a spambot.

John, hope we aren't going to get spambot trouble with the forum upgrade?.

Spambots have caused a lot of trouble on the SDK Documentation Group. Including the current partial crash which has not been rectified (see:- http://www.planetz.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=20288)

How come i keep getting emails every time someone replies to this thread? i had to manually disable it in my profile (for some reason it had switched itself on since the upgrade) and i still keep getting these emails.

PS sorry about the size but tthis point size is giving me migraines.

So it would be better to enlarge the font size and reduce the contrast.

Hey Guys,

Just checking in real quick to make sure the forums didn't blow up while I was sleeping :)

Don't worry about font sizes, colors, etc- we'll get it sorted out. Meanwhile, if the fonts are too small- try your browser's "zoom" feature, as a workaround.

Gotta run out with the kids for the mdidle of the day, but I'll check back in later today and try to clean up some of the big problems (like missing downloads, etc)

Cheers,
-John

Cool! Looks like attachments are working ok, and I agree, your icon coloring for "New posts in forum" looks better. I'll swap it in later today

Cheers,

Congrats John, must have been a lot of time to do the update, and you're not finished yet.
Thanks a lot :-)
I specially like the search function and the read-posts-while-reply function :-)

It's probably discussed in the past when you suggested the upgrade, but wouldn't it be much more convenient to have the most recent post of the thread at page start?
A less elegant solution would be to start every thread page-load at the 'end', f.e. when you come back from posting to check the message.
At least the 'go-back-to...- choice seems to suggest it that way.

Minor stuff:
I already miss the old smilies!
first of all esthetically, the old ones are more icon-like, the new ones have too much expression which in contrast makes them less usefull (and less funny).
Specialy I liked to use the one with the big tooth smile, compare it to this  one, iits equivalent.

I admit, totally irrelevant Image

Hi John,
thx for your great efforts :D

just a feedback, "new post coloring" not working here even when logged in.

Best wishes

Stefan

p.s. there goes my 100th post, and first on the upgraded planetZ :P
May all sentient beings achieve liberation from suffering :)
