Type II Versus Type I cards.
In my second PC I have the dreaded apollo 133 chipset from VIA - one of the worst things, that could ever happen to Pulsar. When I take out the Pulsar one and use 2 Pulsar 2s and one Luna, I can go very far with loading masterverbs without issues. With a pulsar 1 card in there, it is not so good. So if you have those kind of issues, you will very likely get a performance boost be going pure second generation.
I could not wait for the keys so I went ahead and installed the Pulsar II. I took out the SRB I so I am using the Pulsar I, Luna and Pulsar II.
The performance is pretty decent, much better so I think I might keep the old Pulsar for a while.
The moral is that when using 3 cards, 2 type 2 cards is better than 1 type 2 card.

I spoke too soon. In the real world this setup just wasn't working so I pulled out the old Pulsar. Now it is just the Pulsar II and Luna. It seems fine. I have 9 DSP chips. I might try to use the other Pulsar in another computer. Not now though. The ironic thing is that I bought this just so I can use Sonic Timeworks Ambience and in the process of transfering keys, that one was deleted. Doh! I hope to have this resolved monday or soon after. Not a big fan of DRM
.
Edit:
A whole night of working on music and not a single overflow. Now I can love Creamware! Maybe the other Pulsar was faulty or the type 1 rev 1 is no good or maybe it was the way I had to skip a slot to get 3 cards in before. It is very compliacted how I configured the PCI to get it to work at all before.

Mac gets outdated regarding Creamware

There comes a moment tho that I have to choose between pc and mac, or working with two macs or one pc and one mac.
If Astroman has right, there's not much sight on an external networked Scope box, so it looks pretty hopeless.
Anyway, you have a working setup now

my (first) posting under 'Go on, admit it' in the General Discussion actually states the opposite. On 2006-08-27 17:04, hubird wrote:

Rumours say there WILL BE a box, most likely USB2/Firewire.
They already integrated NOAH and the ASBs into OSX this way - so there's a point to start from

What's NOT gonna happen imho is any slot based solution, as it would require dedicated interface programming for each operating system, even more important, on a much lower, hardware related level.
cheers, Tom
