Step Sequencer?

Only one i know of, besides going modular. (wich is what i prefer..)
Someone should do a Doepfer MAQ16/3 "clone" tho.

Also Flexor's sequencers are analog emulations - though mathematically quite strict/correct. The ramp driven sequencers are exactly how analog sequencers work, like you can speed them up performing basic maths (read: volume changes) on the ramp's frequency input. In the analog world, the hidden 'saw osc' (ramp) has a BPM (voltage?) that is modulated to set for the right speed... The ramp, a mathematically correct saw up oscillator, outputs a value that drives sequencers, just like analog sequencers are controlled by incoming voltage and a set of comparators, one for each step.
Flexor's step sequencers unfortunately do not send MIDI, but they're triggers/gates for envelopes usually, inside modular.
steffensen, the ramp project you tried is a totally digital emulation of a big analog modular.
One day, if I have some money left over to spend, I have to get Wolf's MIDI tools. They seem indispensable, since proper MIDI tools are missing parts in my modular. But it goes a long way to compare MIDI to analog imho...

Underlying problem being that CW's clock drifts from any sequencer's clock, since the early days. Someone once emailed me such a fixed CW clock, but unfortunately it's not mine to upload it to the web...
With Flexor one can overcome this issue by reserving a mono ASIO bus for a recorded/rendered saw up with an exact span of xx bars/measures, and sending that to all patches that have sequencers or need sync modulation, so the step sequencers run in absolute sync with the ASIO sequencer.

Good tip regarding the recorded/rendered saw up btw, can be most useful. I've seen u mention it before, but i havent got around testing it yet.
I usually record my seq stuff straight out of modular as is, but will have this tip in mind if i ever notice any drifting happening.

Its really nice!
If u have Reaktor there is just the thing for u also, a MAQ16/3 "emulation" kinda.. called monoliner. I use it from time to time, as well as Rozzer's step machine.
I wouldnt mind a decent standalone step sequencer for SCOPE tho, as i cant use midi plugins in Logic.

One of the coolest features is that you can open multiple instances & they all automatically lock syncs. A very creative little tool in the step sequencer department ..

I must be doing something wrong - I know its not meant primarily as a step sequencer but Solaris has a good one built in and it outputs to midi so I thought it should be able to function as one if I just connected it's midi out to another synth - but alas, I get no sound for some reason (so what is the midi out for?)

1st, thanks a lot for mentioning my step sequencer and the midi stuff.
Midi Clock issue: I need to talk a bit technical blabla, to get this explained.
1st, most if not all sequencers spit out a jittering midi clock. On some sequencers you have a setting to choose between midi and audio clock as "master clock", so as a workaround set it to midi clock to keep your scope devices in sync. Of course some jittering is still there, depending on your midi interfaces. In the end midi is still a serial protocoll.
2nd, Creamware tried to circumvent that by implementing a while operating time changing window, where midi clock is recognized, to minimize the jitter. At least that's what I understood from the developer responsible for this function (well, it was just minutes before I started a concert and I was already a liiiiittle bit drunken
). But he was quite confident, that his work was successful. However this improvement didn't found it's way into scope for several reasons.
Based on this I could do little to nothing regarding that issue, which is improved with that special dsp file, at0m mentioned.
Kymelia .. yes, Solaris has a built in step sequencer for internal modulations. John already has put an amazing amount of work into this synth, but it needs some more (better said lots of) work & research, to get that signals spit out as midi signals.
As darkrezin already mentioned, usually in the scope world, the MidiOut of devices just outputs midi controllers, if a knob is assigned to such a controller event. Obviously this is not the case with my midi stuff.
