now that I solved my problems with my system I gave it a quick try.:
DT sounds Great!!
I'll have to do some more testing.
I used to a have a outboard rocktron preamp plugged into Scope to play guitar this sounds at least as good as not better!
in other words S4L buy it you can't go wrong with this Dynatube added to your live rig
regards

hmm, I never mentioned about dsp usage till yet. I have a scope and a pulsar2 (a total of 20 + 1 dsp's). i guess one dynatube will use 1 or 1.5 dsp's at the max (but has to be tested again). we may could open a new thread: how many dynatubes can you load!On 2006-04-17 12:18, voidar wrote:
Cool. I guess I should try that out some time. I bet that setup would exhaust all my 12 DSP's though. But it's kind of nice to really have to work for the tones like in a traditional studio setup.
But you essentially ended up with 4 mono-channels per performance, 8 files total or? Kinda overkill. But who knows.
Dynatube is heavy on the DSP if someone out there wonders. About a stereo-instance of GraphEq per loaded device.

what do you mean with 8 files? *confused-i-am*. my little math: 4 dynatubes = 4 mono channels = 2 stereo channels = 2 guitar recording takes (cause playing two dynatubes at once)... maybe it's my bad english

however, best plug of the year!!
cheers

Ah, so it's really just one take. At least the way I see it. And I mean take as in performance. At a minimum I record two performances of the same riff for L/R.

dynatube seems very heavy on dsp.On 2006-04-17 16:00, katano wrote:

i have pulsar1+luna+pulsar1 srb (11 dsp). i can load 5 dynatube (on an empty project) before reaching dsp limit.
instead, vinco DT seems very light
How good is Dynatube compared to Celco's GAM and Speaker sim? Is Vinco nice? I really only think I need Dynatube's Marshall emulator, but all three with Vinco seems to be a nice offer?
Vinco is a vintage compressor, isn't it? I guess that means it will give a warmer sound than a plain SFP compressor? Maybe also clearer? (If I sound like a newbie, it's because I _am_ pretty new to this stuff.)
(BTW: Is this 189 euro offer only for April?)

The old Vinco seemes to be modelled after the UA 1176LN "Limiting Amplifier": http://www.uaudio.com/_works/images/pro ... medium.jpg
Vinco DT seemes to be modelled after the UA LA-3A "Leveling Amplifier": http://www.uaudio.com/NewFiles/LA_3A_front.jpg
Both are supposed to be very musical/smooth sounding compressors.

you need only one dynatube instance for the mb sound
and of course, if you have not enough dsp power, you will always be able to record the traditional way, while putting dynatube in front of recording... ok, you loose the possibility to change the guitar sound afterwards, but hey, till today, it was best practice with a real amp.
cheers

cool idea.. It could be just another ASB series of the 4 different amp heads with built in speaker/cabinet sims. They'd need to bolt a brick to the inside to simulate the weight/build quality though ..
or how about BX-Digital ASB? mmm. Maybe not. How could they charge the same for a DSP hardware version a la ASB as they do for the SFP plug-in?

Well i was thinking a bit further down the line, ie. there would more models, effects pedals, wah pedals, etc. like a Pod, but with the flexible routing of SCOPE (Pod routing is fixed). It would be rackmounted and bright red...If they would release the current Dynatube as an ASB, I would definitely need a EQ/OD-pedal in front of it for my needs.
OK maybe not red.
Hi Shoomz,
I think it is better that you test it yourself than rely on my evaluation: guitar sound is really subjective
if you are seeking after a "recorded wall of guitar sound", you will be able to find it. Personnaly, my sound is from clean to ... light crunch for rythmic / arpeggio and crunch for solo. In that kind of sound, dynamic response to your attack is really important. On that particular point, I find the Dynatube inferior to my POD Pro (and the POD Pro far from "the real thing"). On strong attack, Dynatube is convincing (better than a GSP 2101 for example). The clean sound is well, ... clean as expected. For me the problem is with medium attack where the transition from clean to crunch is not as coherent as Line6 and perturb my playing. This evaluation is my guitarist point of view (I play mainly jazz/blues guitar in fact), and you have to know that I am stringent on that point, far more than on replicating the exact amp signature. The sound attack/dynamic is good (except for the heavy MB preset but this can be corrected by a FT clean // MB mix as it is in the real MB Mark1 which blend a clean sound with the High gain stage).
Going ASB means that you bring something better than current contenders which are known and have identified services. On all these points they are not yet ready IMO.
cheers
