The cloud-capp'd towers, the gorgeous palaces,
The solemn temples, the great globe itself,
Yea, all which it inherit, shall dissolve
And, like this insubstantial pageant faded,
Leave not a rack behind. We are such stuff
As dreams are made on, and our little life
Is rounded with a sleep.

Hi

This thread was a bit disgusting when you were yelling at each others, but I expected to see it come to a more positive position where the one who post accept to discuss. which seems to be the case now!

Taken the accepted fact that it remains some issue with the platform and taken that the company is now to small to support it, what is OUR position as customer?

Are we ready to pay for maintening the platform on a contract basis? (contractually I mean, Not just asking for, in order to the company to be able to evaluate the money raised and to be sure they'll have it).

If we are at least 1000 customers paying 100 euro, this would be a base for employing 1 guy dedicated to correct the last items remaining.

If we really want to see the last issues solved, that's where we have to go and accept it. So the question is: are we ready?

the answer is in your answers!

Personnaly I say YES for 3 years! and you?

Cheers

Hi,

Why not if it is feasible! If we share the costs we also share objectives. If there is enought Mac users for this to be a valuable decision (and particularly as Apple is going to intel, it might be opening the choice for us as we could then have access to OSX and LOGIC!).

The questions here are:
How many are accepting this.
How much time and money each remaining issue are going to cost.
Which priority we assign to them
Which items will remain unsolved (to much time and effort)
Will Creamware be interested with this plan.

Cheers

€100 would be OK for an upgrade every couple of years or so, as long as there was evidence of long term commitment to the hardware platform.

I doubt it would fit into their current business model though. I can't help thinking the current plan is simply to stay afloat long enough to sell as much old stock as possible at market rather than liquidation price.

I mean is the hardware still even being manufactured? Or is there a corner of a warehouse somewhere stacked with Scopes made three years ago? If the latter then how many? A few hundred would raise a few hundred thousand Euro to keep a few people employed for a couple of years. Or pay off creditors.

I still hope to be surprised.

the creditors are paid. there IS developement. there ARE plans for a future. nothing is in stone at this point, afaik. this is an eye(or ear)witness account. it is thoroughly unofficial.

it is likely that there will be some devolpement visible soon, but there are no promises. this will have to do. there is still no competeing product on the market. the cards are MUCH more than a little bit useful. be hopeful or not, your choice. i prefer to be hopeful. being hopeful indicates a certain amount of risk, i could be disappointed. not being hopeful involves no risk, just the certainty of unhappiness now and later(the rewards of negativity, cynicism is fine, it shows experience, but negativity is just stupidity)....

at this stage in the game a little encouragement(we need more courage) to continue makes all the difference in the world.....

Hi,

Ok! So lets say it that way:
In this kind of situation, manufacturer commitment cannot be much more than its customer commitment.

If we take 4.5 upgrade as a measure of customer commitment (a bit biaised as there were devices bundled). It could well be possible that the net income from this ourperform the net income from let's say the B4000. It might probably reveal that the platform is a caw product to them instead of a dead product. In this particular situation, they could work as a "service" company (which is not that far from their business as they already do this for broadcast if I am correct). One other incentive, is that they will have a better "press" for their next generation of computer based platform (if there is one). Being able to cope with their customers will bring more confidence with their future products.

my 0.02 cents

well, i've been involved since v1.2 or so and i can hohnestly say that even though they've often been slow, and even though they don't go around making lots of promises and announcements(quite the opposite, they run from those things!), cwa DOES listen to the customers and tries to implement features and fixes demanded. also, commitment to scope has never wavered, even though the noah debacle would've been an easy excuse out. as long as the company remains solvent, there WILL be more coming. as i said, there are PLANS being worked on NOW.

just my observations, not gospel....
