Hi!
I'm no guitar man, but I have an electric guitar and would like to do some sampling and stuff. I've sold my old amplifier and gotten a mixer with DI input, and I plugged my guitar in. It seems to work nicely.

People I know have said that no software "fuzz box" will do, I have to have an external box. I would like to prove them wrong.

So what's your opinion, is the modules available to Scope 4.5 good enough? I have so far tried CW's "TQDrive S" and Celmo's "Guitar Blues Man", and it's sounds pretty cool to me. Maybe Celmo's "Guitar Amp Modeller" (not free) sounds even better, or maybe there's some other distortion/overdrive/fuzz/guitar-rig/big-stack module for Scope that I should check out?

Or do you feel that nothing beats hardware for this purpose?

Try stacking a PEQ4, then Overdrive, then another PEQ4. Play with the EQ and distortion levels and you will find numerous useful tones.

I also like to throw a delay on their as well for the full on "Rock Star" effect! Delay sounds different depending on whether you put it before or after the distortion, try both.

with the modular shell, you can do every guitar effect you need.
The flexor modules are a must have.

the tq overdrive is very good combined with the celmo GAM. there are no bad distortions. the gsuite free vsts(google gsuite) are pretty nice. a real pedal feeding the GAM is pretty spectacular, especially with the speaker sim...

Celmo GAM and Speaker simulator is great.
You could try Celmos Blues Man, which is a free device.

Hm, I don't think I will be able to (afford to) buy both Adern Flexor and Celmo's GAM and SpeakerEmulator at the same time. Flexor of course is on my wishlist for other purposes as well. Maybe go for Flexor and the speaker-thing first, and use the free BluesMan thing for now ... *thinking*

I like the CreamWare TDrive when I want a quick, easy overdrive plug, but when I want a really pro guitar sound, Izotope's Trash is the best I've heard. The presets are GREAT. SixString (with distortion turned off) connected to Trash is awesome. If the latency is low enough, it'll still feel live.

There was also Amper by UnitX around for a while, but I don't know if they're still doing business, and it used the old funky Pulsar 2-style presets.

I tried the Celmo amps (the free and paid for ones) and either they have no presets or there's a bug because when I click on the presets button nothing comes up.

I don't know if it's the case, but sometimes happened that if you have the routing window open and set as always "on top" and you open a preset list that it's not "on top", it gets covered by the routing window and just stays behind. Try to close everything and see what happens.

I've got a similar problem:
I use the Guitar Bluesman and when I use it as insert on a mixer I can't open the preset list. When I put it direclty on the routing window I can open the preset list.

Yes you're right - its only a problem when its used as an insert in the mixer.

At least for the Bluesman anyway

- just tried the demo of the Amp modeller and can't open presets either way for that (assuming it comes with some)

On the VST-side of things, you might want to try out NI's "Guitar Rig".

NI have come to their senses and made a demo version available (hooray!)

Links can be found on this page:

It's fairly expensive, but vey comprehensive.
