Hubird, I've seen many people with a lot of gear doing nothing with it but pressing a c key and having the arpeggiator jamming by itself. They wouldn't even bother to finish a proper tune because they were actually too much into...gear lust !!! That's what I mean by boing boing zap musicians. On 2006-01-11 07:23, hubird wrote:
But the quote above here really makes me suspect you're a typical prepossessed amateuristic XTC-VST junk who thinks that 'passion' is reserved for oldstyle instrumentalists...
Put me on your list my friend...
On the contrary, I remember many years ago, I've been sort of slapped in the face once by a youngster not knowing sh*t about music theory and that could hardly press a key on the keyboard without hitting another one mistakenly that was producing incredible Drum'n bass tracks !!!... Very inspired and good sounding !!!
It taught me to differenciate once for all producing/composing to playing abilities...
My music is a mix of electro and "old style" (rhodes, violins..). I can spend hours tweaking a synth part or an arpeggio but I still reckon it's good (for the sake of groove) to be able to play a funky bass line without too much edits...
IMO, If you have a vision of what you want to achieve, you're a musician. If chance is an important factor in your results... you're screwed !!!

@ Tuccos : Now, you're embarassing me man. How do pot smoker would have anything to do in this argument ? The xtc bit of your rant got my support. The r*dneck part is ugly to my eyes.
