how to use OPTIMASTER
i use optimaster at the final stage of my mixes.
The wizard function is a good starting point for beginners, but the best thing is to work manually on each parameter with the spectrum analyzer in front of your eyes.
I've found that optimaster does not work right in insert slots, so i use it outside.

I use it for mastering. I usually chain it after a master eq and before a psyq.
I usually start tring different presets ignoring their names. When I find the one closer to my idea I work on the single bands separately.
I rarely use the wizard, but I agree it can be usefull like a starting point.

That's usually where it appears in my chain. On 2005-11-28 04:18, Lima wrote:

I also set-up a dry route to the outputs as well as the effected one and set-up their levels so that I can judge one against the other at the same perceived volume.

Hiya
I currently am looking into this whole thing about mastering with Creamware tools and am wondering as a rule what is the level a file should be exported at in dB for mastering purposes. I currently export my projects at -5 dB from Cubase SX3 and load them into Wavelab where I use the Waves Q6, Waves LinMB and Waves L3 to give the mix punch.
I would like to know how to use Optimaster for the same job. One question is do you let the Optimaster Wizard run through the entire track? How are you supposed to use it correctly in this mode?

you can avoid to use it...just be very careful to use optimal levels when tracking and mixing, so you won't need it, or just a little. On 2006-06-15 16:18, Stevil wrote:
the thing i'm sketchy about with this tool is it uses a normalizer. normalizing tracks tends to bring up the noise floor along with the overall track level. are there ways around this?
I mean the normalizer, not the Optimaster...in case it's not clearOn 2006-06-15 17:07, alfonso wrote:you can avoid to use it...just be very careful to use optimal levels when tracking and mixing, so you won't need it, or just a little. On 2006-06-15 16:18, Stevil wrote:
