an oldmac
it is pure crap, you can safely ignore it.
I've once installed a Pulsar One in an old PowerMac 7600 with a G4/350 accelerator (at least 2-4 times the processing power of the box you mention).
Worked, but not exactly fun - those machines have rather slower memory busses which affects PCI performance - I think it complained at the 2nd Masterverb ...
do you want to learn about traditional Mac (pre OSX) or about the current systems ?
they do not have very much in common, but the logo.
Imho a trad Mac running (say) ProTools under OS 7.1 to 8.1 is one of the most simple and robust systems one can imagine - I'm constantly tempted on eBay where ex 25k Euro racks sell for 1k or less - if there would be silent SCSI disks
OS 9 (required for SFP) is a pretty mess compared to the latest version of OSX.
You know there is no more developement in this direction, so it would only make sense learning it in context with either a Protools or a Creamware system.
All new Mac stuff is OSX, starting to be usable with version 10.4 (Tiger)
cheers, Tom
