I agree to this being bad taste from CWA's side, as this seems to be only a bundle.
Also there is are a couple of new devices available - these spectral whatever blah. Though I guess they're a lovely welcome

I'll certainly take advantage of this soon.

I also think it is CWAs policy to sell what they can of this platform before their new one is ready. They need the finances.
And our tools will be just as good then as now.

the version number also identifies the package of devices the respective card is qualified for automatically - you may call this simply 'an upgrade' or make a lengthy and complicated explanation.
there is nothing bad in exploiting the fact that this kind of news is easier to place in mags as well, etc. bla.

cheers, tom

that's true
So the only complaint I still have is the fact that it's hard to predict what you get if you upgrade.
I hope CWA will clarify this soon.

Well it might "nuke" the resale value of transferrable plugins (a dubious market I think), but you've had the value of using these devices. That's not diminished. If you wait long enough, all software will come down in price. If you want to use it now, you pay the premium.
For me, EU98 gets me Masterverb Pro, Pro12 and the new Spectral Balance device. Not bad. I hope they use the cash flow for Scope development. Then it's definitely money well spent.

creamware did not say that there are no improvements in software, at least that is what i hope, i mean that there might be something better according to the steinberg reffers on the commercial and something about more power.... or maybe this is just words. even if i bought scope 4.5 and the only plug in that i get more is the spectral balance .. all other bought, and i don't know yet how i am going to get the cdrom. :???:

"how am i going to have scope 4.5 cd rom?"

there is NO improvement in the 4.5 except you get more devices. That simple.

I second that. I am really disappointed. No new drivers?! 64bit? ... I won't pay just for a new version number and a few more plugins ... 4.5 ... ridiculous

Tom

64bit?? take a look at page 174-175 of the recent Sound on Sound issue regarding 64 bit OS and the available software for 64bit OS.

Name 3 sequencers that support 64 bit
(aside from Sonar 5).

Still 98 Euro is 50% OFF any single device you thought about buying 2 days ago or in the future if this Special LIMITED time offer was not there.

Come on dude

PS2 And seriously (ouh I'm pretty serious today!) if you need sound in Linux, just put another cheap soundcard with supported drivers in there.

Yes, buy RME.

Have a good night!

I've got RME here. While I can appreciate that they have linux drivers (I don't use Linux) I have to agree with Garyb, the scope cards offer more value for the money. They are simply different tools. RME has had its teething problems with drivers as well, they are simply fortunate to have products that are more focused and have less breadth so they are easier to market and develop.

You are joking, aren't you? The 2 above are the most desirable (I presume). And perhaps they sell them very well so why to kill a hen which gives you golden eggs?

quote from cwaudio site:

'Version 4.5 of the SCOPE platform brings a massive upgrade in functionality and features to the home, project and professional packages.'

I find this quite misleading...

Post by hubird »

you *really* thought there would be worked on bugs (hardly here) and SFP project features when the offer came out??
Not me, not a single second, there is nobody to do that or to have time for that, we all know that
They even don't had time to present the offer more clearly, specially about the SnS and MnM factor (which you surprisingly don't have to have to profit from the Pro12, B2003, Optimaster and VDAT).

Really, and again, only all the Stardusts amongst us have the right to feel sour, almost everyone else has a bargain

Cash, cash and cash, thats what CWA is after since the rebirth, and this time they seem to do better than in the past.
Thank got or allah, I'd say

'Version 4.5 of the SCOPE platform brings a massive upgrade in functionality and features to the home, project and professional packages.'
And that is exactly what we get

I have to work both christmas days, but this offer makes my christmas
