Hi,

spEQtrum is updated now to v1.1 (the update is free for existing customers and the device package price won't raise ! ).
There are three new devices added to the package:

spEQtrum L :

- display of the freq. spectrum of in- and output at the same time
- has a reset button
- background can be made darker in spectrum mode to have better contrast
- frequency grid can be hidden in spectrum mode to achieve better overview

spECtrum M/S (note the "c") :

- just the analyzer part of spEQtrum
- available in mono and stereo

Try it. It is not as hard as you think. I did it 3 1/2 years ago ( I smoked around 15 cigarettes per day) and I did never regret.
If you have somebody who eulogizes you for non-smoking, it will be easier too.
Now I'm buying a new DAW.

just a short note for my customers:
put the gain-quality dependance to your desired setting and you'll have your pultec or whatever eq right on your finger tips.

.. and a question:
should I deliver such settings beside the fact that you can emulate nearly any eq out there with speqtrum ?
keep in mind that there's a copyright issue .. that's why I hesitated to do so (the settings are already part of the device, they just had to be renamed).

Call it Pulltech or whatever, many of your potensial customers are as you know hobbyists, seeking for easy answers.

I'll do some research (forgot which presets are already emulations ..) and will update the preset list accordingly.

Well, one could fill several books with a still incomplete answer about behaviour differences, but there are two basic things in analog eqs: 1st the in/out stage, which was usually realized with transformers. Depending on the quality of these transformers, the audio signal will be more or less "grinded". You could emulate that with a special frequency dependant fast envelope follower. This is not implemented in spEQtrum as the influence itself is quite esoteric (most discussions about that point as well

).
The 2nd thing is the circuit itself. This is a little bit explained in the manual (changing bandwidth while boosting/reducing a band in early analog eqs against the implementation of constant bandwidth in analog and digital eqs starting around the 80ies). I could go deeper into the separate components, but in the end the gain-bandwidth relation is the main difference between the several eqs. In spEQtrum any band can have his separate gain-bandwidth dependancy setting to mimic these different behaviours. Additionally the bands might have a dip somewhere in their characteristics. This can be emulated in spEQtrum by linking two or more bands together resulting in a custom build filter cluster.

As usual I love all 3rd party offerings. I wish there were other businesses in the world that could produce the quality of life like Scope and 3rd party guys have done 4 me, and at such a meagher price. Most of your Pro Tool plugs start at 500 USD. So our platform is the " Poor Mans Pro Tools " around the jingle houses here in Las Vegas. There is nothing poor about it. I call it the " Smart Mans Pro Tools."

I'm seriously interested to Wolf's SpEQtrum but I find his interface less intuitive and ergonomic than other counterparts.
In example, I own a couple of UAD-1 and I'm actually without a good versatile EQ like "Cambridge" or Sonalksis "SV-517 Stereo EQ". I find Wolf's spEQtrum very actractive for the features (and obviously the sound!) but I'm in trouble because I like more i.e. this interface layout:

The spEQtrum is too large, the graphic section too "invadent" compared to the knobs section (more important to me!)
Yes, I know that the spectrum feature is rilevant in the dimensional choice. Maybe could be useful a version without spectrum, only EQ with the hi-end spEQtrum sound and setting features. (8 band stereo eq is not exactly the same of spEqtrum)
I think that a redesign could put spEQtrum above the rest of contender.
Some people ends to prefer specific things like Neve or API EQ because the easy and quick usage. spEQtrum is often cheaper and more powerful than many others products but (I've tried a lot of times in a year the spEQtrum demo) I cannot find it ergonomic.
Sorry for my "strange" interface point of view (over the sound quality) but I'm a Graphic Designer

I cannot decide, in these days, to buy an serious EQ between: UAD, Sonalksis, spEQtrum or URS.
I'm tempted from Digitalaudiosoft's EQs but I really don't need another "specific" EQ (I own the UAD's Pultec, wow!)
Now I NEED a powerful & universal EQ like spEQtrum.
Wolf, do you think that it's a hard work to redesign the interface?
Or just redraw the knob section bigger with bigger handy knobs.
Or feature the possibility to switch off the graphic section for a serious space saving (I wish use it XTC mode). Thanks.

Sorry for my bad english. Is hard to explain ideas in different language...

But after the drag&drop installation it should also be found in your scope directory in the manuals folder or directly available via the LiveBar.
