sysex ( patches dump) please help me
Hi everybody,
i have problems dumping patches from vst to novation nova : i can record all nova patches via system exclusive into vst,(a midi part containing sysex appears in vst) but when i try to send them back to the nova in order to check if everything is ok it doesn't work ,nova should display something like " receiving...." but it doesn't.
midi in/out are correctly connected , i'm a midi expert indeed , i checked novation website and i followed exactly the procedure described into the f.a.q. i was wondering if somebody had same problems , also with other synths .
i have a mac g3 450 mhz and a pulsar 2 sfp 3.1c,oms 2.3.7. (works as shit as oms 2.3.8 !)
thanks
lore

If it's automated SYSEX tx/rcv (you know, tx/rcv commands included in sysex msg) try doing a manual dump.
Make sure Cubase is not filtering sysex, and that it can record sysex. Then record a track on Cubase, while you manually dump from your machine. Cubase should have recorded one sysex string on the track. Make sure you set adequete recording lenght on the track, for the dump to finish properly.
Then, manually set your machine to receive sysex. Play the track in Cubase. It sends the sysex string back to your machine. Or at least, it should.
This is an alternative way of doing the tx/rcv, you could check with this one...

Hi, I've problem with dumping sysex out from VST to my Korg Z1. It shows receiving, starting and stop at 2%...I took the same sysex file, loaded into my Atari and it worked great!
Where can I find this patch?
Edit:
I have Pulsar2 + SRB

Still have sysex problem, read something about not using emulated midi-ports...how do I change that? In SFP I connect my Pulsar-MIDI-IN to a SEQ-MIDI-IN and SEQ-MIDI-OUT to my Pulsar-MIDI-OUT, this SEQ-MIDI is SW-emulated ports I think, but how do I get MIDI out from my seq without using these?
In SX i only see CW-Emulated-MIDI-Ports...
Sending single sysex-patch works but not whole bank. I have enabled sysex in seq, slowed down tempo to 10bpm and still it hangs and the Z1 not receiving anything.
I copied thsese sysex-file to my old Atari, loaded cubase and send it to Z1 with success!!!
I need a working midi now!!

Would this sysex problem be the reason why many sysex tools, for example Pete Kvitek's Pc1600x editor or the 505 patch editor I had, have MIDI buffer size and delay settings? Setting larger input buffer size and send delays often solved the problem of some MIDI data getting lost along the way. Unfortunately SX doesn't offer this option.
