what a coinsidence! i was actually logging on to request a device like Audio2Control! thanks, ill save up :smile:
oh, and;

val2note sends midi notes out of modular
val2control sends midi controller messages out of modular

this means i can make controllers for my external bitch-to-control HW synths like my elka? SWEEEET!!!

Does this mean that you can use 'val2note' to convert a monophonic input signal to midi using a pitch tracker output connected to 'val2note' ?

If that works I'm sold! Rock On!

All we need now is a demo version !?

@all:
thanks for all the nice comments :smile:

@borg:
So far this is already a "bundle" in the kind of several devices collected together. Or do you mean bundling with eg. the StepSequencer ?

@stepzilla:
yes, you can connect any unipolar signal to the Val-Input of val2note. This can be a pitch tracker, a LFO or anything else. There are endless possibilities within modular.
Same is true for val2control.

mh, demo .. yes .. the problem is, that it is too much work to supply a demo mechanism to all devices regarding the number of them.
So here goes my question: which (two or three) of the devices/modules would you prefer to demo ?

kind regards
Wolfgang

does it support also aftertouch or 'only' regular CCs ?
If it does, you've sold one :smile:
... and it would be nice if the midi note filter would be unsharp, i.e. a range of notes

most devices (where it makes sense) pass through aftertouch messages (and pitch bend). But I'm shure you didn't mean that.
How would you like to see it implemented ? And in which devices ?

> ... and it would be nice if the midi note filter would be unsharp, i.e. a range of notes

the transformer has differerent operation modes:
• filter matching note
• let matching note pass through
• convert note - filter other events
• convert note - let pass other events
• convert controller - filter other controllers
• convert note to control - filter other events

I could implement a range for notes input filter easily, but currently I'm only able to send out one event at a time, so all incoming notes meeting the filter condition would be transformed to the same output event.

thanks for the reply, Wolf :smile:
I'd like to assign aftertouch to one of the big knobs of Multicontrol and distribute it to various controllers with different 'intensities' as the description suggests.

It would be perfectly okay if the 'range note filter' would capture just a single note event on a channel.
That way one could assign a range of low notes for one destination and a range of high notes for another one.
Or any note on a channel triggers a defined event - at least I've never found this functionality anywhere.

Possible to implement, but'll take some time
It would be perfectly okay if the 'range note filter' would capture just a single note event on a channel.
Do you mean capturing a range of keys and convert this range to one note/contr ? This can be implemented as well, if wanted.
That way one could assign a range of low notes for one destination and a range of high notes for another one.
This already is possible, as there is the midi key splitter from Creamware. Just connect the ouputs to two transformers.
But perhaps I misunderstood you in what you want to achieve
Or any note on a channel triggers a defined event - at least I've never found this functionality anywhere.
this could result in a terrific surface (in all senses) as there are 128 note messages, which all need parameters. Think of loading 128 MidiTransformers and switching between them.
Of course you could do that to a given extend by renaming / saving some MidiTransformers with needed settings :wink:
But .. again .. perhaps I simply misunderstood, what you mean.

you've understood all perfectly right, except the last one :wink:
'any note' means that whatever note number a single event has, it will always be converted to a (say) D2 (or whatever note is choosen).

ah, ok .. no problem to implement .. well, beside the time needed for it.

Thanks for the suggestions !

thanks a lot - I will order whatever is available around the 20th.
No need to hurry, it's enough to know that you will extend the afforementioned functions in the near future.

.. done :grin:

changes:

MultiControl:
- pitchbend and channel aftertouch messages beside controller assignment possible as input source
- switch for each output to send out controller or channel aftertouch

MidiTransformer:
new version, which can process notes, note range, controller messages, channel and key aftertouch, pitch bend and program changes on the input and transforms it to note (off), controller messages, channel and key aftertouch messages, pitch bend messages or program changes.

If anyone has an additional idea or enhancement requests, don't hesitate .. :cool:

Hi,

forgot to mention: an updated manual is available as well, please redownload.

Some other stuff:
- I decided to add a 16 StepSequencer with very low dsp usage to the package. The price of the bundle will stay the same !!
- I'll offer a bundle with my 32 StepSequencer, however I'm not shure about the pricing yet.
- I'm still waiting for some suggestions, which devices of the package you prefer to demo

kind regards
Wolfgang

/me drooling

Very nice kit, wolf, that seq sure makes the cherry on the pie eh :cool:

Is there a way to do freq2val or note2val? This would make excellent pitch tracking for KarpStrong using moddelay :grin: (listen here, too bad the pitch tracking doesn't work properly.

I'm sorry but you opened some gates here, eh!

Hi at0m,
I'm sorry but you opened some gates here, eh!
no prob, that was my intention :wink:

reg. freq2val and note2val, this is already available in some manner. The usual MVC module sends out sync and async values for incoming notes and then there's flexors Pitch2CV.
The cause, that it's not working properly for you is that you seem to use async signals somewhere in your signal chain.

Thanks!
