My Crackles stopped Can you tell me why?

I just turned on my new DAW with Scope Professional 4.0, Creamware A16 Ultra, and a Mackie Control Universal, running Cubase SX 3.0. Everything is working fine, except that every audio recording had severe crackles. After reading a number of threads on the topic, I changed the ULLI from the lowestlatency to the next lowest latency level. The crackles disappeared immediately. Now, to test my fix, I changed it back to the lowest latency setting. and THE CRACLES ARE STILL GONE? Has my system cured itself? Did it finally synch up or what?! Any info would be appreciated.

Could've been clocking problem.
