In my new system I have software runnig: Windows XP pro,
scope 4.0,
steinberg SX 2,
gigastudio 2,
in my old system I had cool-edit2 for a wave editor.
should I buy the TripleLE editor or should I stick to cooledit ?
or any other options?
wich one do you use and why?

Personally I use Wavelab (v5 now). I stopped upgrading SF & Cool edit 3-4 years ago. Oh, I use Logic btw

I originally used Sound Forge, but they were slow on 24-bit support so I moved to WaveLab and haven't looked back. Works for me...

Down and dirty I use SX but I fire up Audition (Cool-Edit) when necessary and master there. Managed to grab clicks and pops in SX sample editor and delete them really zoomed in. Also did some pitch correction in SX. Convenient.

Well,

I own WL4 and SF7, they both are great apps, but if I were looking for an all in one solution I would go with Wavelab simply because of VST support since SF only allows for DX plugs unless you use a wrapper, but I have DSP cards like UAD1 and especially the Powercore which does not offer DX versions of their plug and will not offer any support when using a wrapper or not.

SO that could be of some interest for you. All in all though, each offers something great, there are things I like that SF does better than WL and vice versus.

Cheers!

I rather like TWE (Tiny Wave Editor).

Not uber-powerful by any means, but it's very simple, quick to use and 100% free!

My sample editing needs are generally quite humble...

TIP: do NOT use the one in the STS samplers!

just a nice alternative to wavelab, magix musicstudio2005, approx $79 us, has two programs. one, midi studio, is not that exciting, it is very close to logic 4 or so. the other though, audio studio, is almost identical to samplitude5, a very nice audio editor which is also a good mastering app, burning redbook cds.
