Graphics card settings

Hi guys.
Are there any specific things you do to help your sytem,with your soundcard?
I have Matrox G450 Millenium,and have tried to feed signals to VST plugins with least delay(low ULLI etc).I was wondering if there are any specific tweaks with regards to the soundcard?It's the only thing I don't really touch,but feel that screen re-draws pose problems when my system needs last bit of juice.

Scope graphics are heavy indeed...

the price of beauty...

The tweak for the matrox I know it's a must, is disabling bus mastering in it's advanced configurations. But this is to help soundtasks, not graphics.

Hi, no....sorry

I have a Radeon 7000 in my Internet machine..I didn't do any tweak there, but I don't use it for music... I have a Matrox G550 in my Scope machine and I think I would like a card with more memory.

What you can check, with the tips darkrezin posted, is that your video card doesn't hog the PCI bus. I found the Nvidia card in this laptop to be at 248, setting it at 96 with the dbldawg proggie could improve PCI stability. It's a bit of a give and take tho, trading higher PCI stability for higher (peak) bus speed.

These high peaks make so the cards come out better for benchmark tests. It's the same with video cards, network cards etc. What we usually want using CW gear, is to make PCI more stable, with dbldawg by reducing the time PCI devices hog the bus.

What about Matrox Parhelia.Looks awesome,but is it any good for Music.Don't want any card with fans.

Hi,

I've recently got a matrox P650 which has the parhelia chip (the larger matrox boards all have fans and I can't find any db ratings for them, so would advise against as you say)

Not quite sure how well it works yet as I haven't got my dual monitor system up and running, and this screen is in its death-throws. But I have had some wierd, seeming conflicts between the matrox software/drivers and the PC's own settings - my screen keeps coming up in strange sizes !

Anyway I'm not taking it very seriously till I get my new monitor(s) - in general, I think these cards are very good on minimizing cpu use, and are meant (in general) to be v. stable for our sort of tasks.
