WTB - XLR "Pro" Upgrade

Hi,

I've got a Pulsar II "Classic 20" and would like to get some XLR inputs.

Does anyone know where I can get a daughterboard and breakout? (I already asked Sonic|Core and they said to come here)

Cheers

Re: Component fallen off a scope board

I didn't even try to solder the DSP legs. I don't think I have the right tools. The tip of my soldering iron is too big and have no experience in doing this kind of job. If you could point me to any web page which explains how this can be done with a soldering iron, I will be more than happy to try ...

Re: Windows 7 x64 compatibility?

I thought I'd ask SonicCore the question, just to see if there's any new, they said
Win 64 is coming next week as beta, OSX next year, when 64 Bit is finished.
So, there you have it :)

Cubase MIDI Offset

I've recently set up my Pulsar 2 with Scope 4.0 on a new i7 PC.

Everything has been fine, until the last few sessions. I've found that any midi signals going via the Pulsar to the Sequencer are being offset in the sequencer by a few seconds.

The only way I can find to get them back into the right ...

Re: Windows 7 x64 compatibility?

Well, I got my hands on Windows 7 x64 final version last week (a legit one!). Installed it, and as you guys have already found out, it doesn't work with Scope due to there beign no x64 drivers.

Let's hope they come out soon! I've got 6GB RAM now, it would be nice to be able to use it!

Sonic Core : who? what?

OK, i'm not exactly an active member of the community, so I don't know what's going on. :(

Is there any links/posts explaining what's happened/happening to Creamware? The site seems to go to a "Sonic Core" site :-?

Thanks guys,

Griff

OK, found it, tried it. Only seems to see PCi devices and not PCI-Express.

not sure this is the problem in that case, as PCI-E is a separeate bus, In therory anyway.

I notice this advise from my old buddy Martin Walker :

The biggest such problem to face musicians recently has been the ...

Not heard of that, I'll look it up! Cheers Buddy, this is the kind of advise I was looking for :D

Incidently, had some success with Cubase SX, but clearly still a problem somewhere. (see crosspost on Cubase.net)

We've been running the new system for a few days now, so thought I'd report back as promised.

After some juggling, got the Pulsar2, RAID Card and a Firewire card all running OK on the PCI bus.

Firewire car works great, captures video straight to the RAID card.

The RAID card and array works great ...

Hmm, I'm sure there was a Markus who used to be very much on the scene, possible a Creamware emplyee or just very enthusiastic.

The RAID gear arrived yesterday, and I've just started to get it installed. Looking good so far.

And yes, it is 3 drives. I already had a 160GB SATA and have bought "two ...

Yes, I've run this config in RAID 5 for a server and it worked fine.

The Rivo card uses RAID 3, and an independent review shows that the performance is essentially unaffected when rebuilding :o

Clever stuff!

I've ordered the card and two more drives today. I managed to get a "today only" bargain ...

Seems I've created quite a conversation :D

I think I may actually get removable drive bays for the array, so I can swap out one drive at the end of each session as a backup. (I used this config before on a server and it worked very well).

The Revo 64 actually looks better and better the more I ...

The 3ware ones are well out of my budget.

But I think I might try this little bugger

100 Percent Hardware RAID Engine

64Mb On-Board Cache

64-bit Processing with L2 Drive Cache

NICE !!!

Thanks kylie, that helps alot.

I have a 160Gb Seagate SATA drive, and will be using a Western Digi 160Gb alongside it in the array.

So different brands, different batches

As long as it's contacntly backing up my files should be good.

Plus, the P4 2.8 CPU will be *slightly* quicker than ...

Hi, thanks for the feedback.

Guess I'll not worry about Hyperthreading.

As for RAID : While I appreciate your opinions on RAID, I'm just really asking if anyone out there can recommend a RAID card?

Or at least, if there's any RAID chipsets to avoid?

Thanks

New Pulsar Base System - Questions

I'm in the fortuante sitution to be able to get a Dell GX280 for a bargain price (well, nothing!)

It's got the Intel 915 chipset, HT Processor, SATA but no RAID.

Q1) I would like to get a PCI RAID card for it, to run RAID1 (Mirroring) on my audio drive. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Q2 ...

Garyb, you say that a genuine intel chipset should work right. I'm not in budget in these days, but I would to change my P3-800 on Asus Cusl2c. I've found this:

Snap! I've been on the ASUS CUSL2C and P800 combo too! Since I first got the Pulsar back in 99 :-)

It's done me proud, been very stable ...
