Onti,

That sounds pretty darned lateral and workable. It's really clever to leave the screen as it is and add mouse alternatives which your hand interfaces with.

I can't quite picture what you mean by 'slider handles' though.

How would you hold the handles?
How would you click and drag?
Would ...

Luis,

There's no doubt that it's too expensive right now - sheesh, a nice size plasma screen is about $5000US over here, even forgetting about putting some kind of touch screen layer on it as well.

BUT, once things start to get cheaper this has got to be the way of the future. Not for mixing, but ...

Spirit,

I like the image of the Roman Emperor - just my style - but I just can't begin to think about spending a day saying stuff like "Minimax #1, oscillator 3, fine tune, plus 10" as a way of making adjustments to a synths patch. You'd end up with laryngitis and late delivery!

I still think the idea's right, just bad implementation.

Why should dragging near a slider move the whole app? Surely they could limit the drag area to the title bar or something.

It would be nice to be able to move two things simultaneously, but I can live with doing stuff sequentially. There ...

Assuming more and more of our work is going to end up being rendered via a PC, what would your dream interface be?

Right now we have mouse, trackball, keyboard, multiple screens, maybe tablets, boxes of assignable knobs, and more sophicticated sets of knobs like the HUI or Logic Control. As far as ...

As of V3 SoFO removed midi sync (Acid as slave) out of the programme. They told me it was because the programme was trying to do too much. I'd read several posts of people complaining about drift, so I can understand.

I'm under the impression that, unless Acid is the master, you can only get it to ...

Shabisan,

As I understand it, you must be getting midi into giga because the red light flashes. The question is, why don't you get blue keys on the virtual keyboard when you play?

Is it possible that you're loading sounds into port two, but playing port one?

I had a problem once where this was ...

More info needed:

What does your Giga hardware routing say about midi port inputs? Is it registering the Pulsar card's midi socket?

When you play the virtual keyboard, do keys go blue?

When you play on your master keyboard, does the green midi port light flash red? (I'm referring to Gigastudio ...

Yep. The main thing I've noticed is an occasional situation where you have to play two notes in order to hear one sound.
Set poly at 1 and play 1 note - nothing (or maybe a low frequency click)
Set poly at 2 and play 2 notes - 1 note.

Nah, the keyboard doesn't even send midi clock.

I've used it via the Unitor II and into Gigastudio and it runs flawlessly.

When I run into Giga via Pulsar's midi input I get the stuck notes etc.,

The only difference is Unitor midi into Giga Vs Pulsar Midi into Giga.

Any other ideas guys.

Hey guys,
Since I started using the acvtual hardware midi input socket on the creamware card to run midi to Gigastudio I can't believe how bad it is. I can't play for more than a bar or so without getting lost or stuck notes, or maybe even notes I didn't play.

I'm wondering if this has something ...

Thanks guys, problem solved.
For those who are interested.
Giga has four virtual midi in ports. I had been using them with unitor, but stopped using unitor this week.
When I switched to the Creamware midi input for Giga's port one, I left the other three ports with Unitor assigned to them.

This was ...

This isn't an XP or SFP issue.
I'm on 98se running 3.01.(I've downloaded sfp, but need to solve some other oddities before I update).

So, what is the right connection?
Does anyone else on the forum use a Pulsar/Gigastudio combo without a sequencer as go-between?

My PC is a tad sick at the moment and I'm using it in a way I haven't done before.

Atomic,

I'd really appreciate the results of any serious test you do. My music PCs arean't networked, so there's not much I can do.

It'd be very interesting to compare latency and jitter over hardware compared to their net software.

Good luck
